Ok I teach 'em all that as back up. Fortunately the grinding stone on the dremel did a nice job of roughing up the finish. Now they lock tight. In fact they hold just a single cord of amsteel as well.

Slippery half hitch is excellent for rings.
Well on the rings... Was that 200# working load, or 200# breaking strength... They are two entirely different things..
The site didn't distinguish. I guess I'll just have spend a few nights in each hammock to test them out. :)
Wow...all the colors of the rainbow :) Very nice.
The SMC descender rings are rated at 14 kilonewtons, which is over 3000# and only cost $3.10. Certainly overkill but rather safe than sorry.
