Strap angle, sag, and ridge-line tension in WBBB

I've watched Brandon's video on Black Bird setup. Strap angle of 25-30*. Load height about chair height. He shows a loose ridge line when sitting, and a some tension on it when laying in the diagonal (either that or he has arms of steel to be able to flex to a 90*).

When I hit the 25-30* strap angle, the ridge line is very tight. The ridge line gets tighter as I decrease the angle and looser as I increase the angle. When I reduce tension on the ridge line, I get some sag, and the diagonal lay gets more comfortable. But since my head is heaviest, I end up with my feet higher than I like. Tightening up the head-end strap doesn't really raise the head-end, because of the ridge line. I'm going to try increasing the strap angle at the head end to see if the sag will shift towards my feet.

At the moment, it looks like the only way to raise my head is to use a tall pillow of some sort. I'm a left-side sleeper BTW.

So folks, am I over-thinking this? Or am I missing something basic?

Everything is happening as it should. To raise your head without changing your sag is a matter of elevating the head end attachment point on the tree or post.

Thanks. I'm going to give that a try next. I think I'm starting to understand how this WBBB works.

But I still need a pillow - I'm going to try the REI inflatable.

Dla - YMMV, but one thing that has helped me is to attach the tree straps a bit lower than Brandon shows in his video (I'm using the adjustable webbing, by the way). I actually attach mine at a little above head height, and tighten from there to chair height. My ridge line seems a bit tighter than bran dons, but I'm really comfortable.

The Exped Air Pillow works very well with this system. I am also a side sleeper. I like it better than the REI pillow.

+1 on the Exped air pillow. I have tried a lot of pillows & that one is a definite keeper!!!

Packs small & is really comfortable.

Yeah, go for a pillow, especially if you sleep on you side. I use one in my WBBB.

Is it taller than the REI? I haven't had a chance to look at either one yet. I just decided to shop at REI so that I can return it easily in case it sucks. I definitely appreciate the recommendation.
