Congaree Swamp National Park 12-26-2011
I went with two of my sons and their significant others to hike the Congaree Swamp National Park. This is the largest remnant of old-growth floodplain forest remaining on the continent. The oldest tree is believed to be 1700 years old. Heard a lot of Woodpeckers pecking and singing. Temp was a cold 50 degrees but great for a hike.
We hiked on the boardwalk to the 4.4 mile Weston Lake Loop and then back to the boardwalk, about 6 miles in all.
I plan to camp here in January.
