wondering about a mod?
I've just thought of something, I would like your opinion before I attempt it, I was thinking about installing/modding a gearskin to the hammock a bit in the way moonbow makes their powerpack system, it might even add a pocket for some insulation, before I try this I would like your opinion and thoughts/ideas
thanks

Everyone looks to Dutch.... He da man with the gearskin hammock.

Like Rev said, "Dutch". He's made several hammock skins and knows the +s and -s as well as the tips and tricks that make it all work.

cool nice write up Dutch, now I'm wondering about doing this to my hh expl/asym!
I'm just worried that by sewing the gearskin to the hh it will cause weak spots where the seams are  any thoughts?
but it would add a pocket for an under pad of some sorts :)

The explorer has pretty tough material but I would hesitate. I am making the bridgeskin out of stuff twice as thick so the seams don't rip. Since you can make a double layer out of very thin material that could go to the hems I would look into that first. You can still use a gearskin if you want. My gearskin design is only 13 inches wide and that is about half of what I would like to see a pad pocket be. Also you have to work around the bottom entry unless you have the zipper mod. Since you must have sewing skills and an innovative spirit why not try it on a DIY hammock first and work out details?

good idea, as soon as I get my injector needles (real old machine, needles hard to find ) I'll give it a try, I already have a diy hh ( just needs a bug net), thanks for the advice!
