Are there any recommendations for the rope thimble size for the fixed eye of 7/64" amsteel blue?
If you want to use stainless, I prefer the sailmakers thimbles that are full round and oval shaped vs the typical tear drop thimbles made for wire. Those have sharp edges.
I dont have my rigging bag handy, but if IIRC, for the the tear drop, 1/8" fits about right. The sailmakers eyes are sized differently in the small sizes and 5/32 rings a bell. 1/8" has a pretty small eye,the line fits fine, but the eye is small.
Nylon thimbles are OK for light use but they seem to work themselves loose unless whipped tight at the base of the eye.
