Straps galore!!
Just in case it isn't on here, once you catch the hammock bug, going to www.strapworks.com is awesome. great variety of patterns for tree-huggin' poly straps, as well as just about any other kind of "strappy" application you can think of, literally. they do custon work as well.
Check it out. i don't work there or anything. just a huge fan.
Thanks. Hang on.

Yup these guys do great work and are fast as heck
-
I have used them on several occasions and I really like the 1" seatbelt webbing.
-
Thanks for the heads up! Now I can order some new tree huggers that don't sag through the night.
-
What style do you recommend, loop size and length ?? Is the 1 inch the way to go?
-
I use the 1" seatbelt webbing "Simple Sling". I order it with a 3" loop and make the length 26' for a webbing suspension and 14' feet for a spike/dutch buckle suspension. The reason for the long lengths is I can cut them in half and have a strap for both ends of the hammock.

:thumbup:I personally liked the paterened 1" Polyester, with 3" loops, at a 5' length. I mean c'mon, you can get 5 different argyle prints, or polka dots, whatever you want. I have rasta stripe ones and i'll try to get a pic up. they work great!

Have a general question on using a simple sling. Do you have to use a dutch clip or carabiner to attach to a tree, or can you simply use the loop on the sling to feed the other end through?
Currently I'm using climbers webbing with an overhand loop and didn't know if a strap loop can take the stress.

Its not as fast to put up or take down but yes you can just feed the tag end through the loop and be good to go. Will actually lighten the load and lessen the amount of hardware that way. Have used it that way on many occasions, you will be fine.
