I did a single-night overnight hang at the Peninsula Campground at Folsom Lake SRA. May 14th was the last night of off-season prices (which have gone up - but at least the campground is still open!)
Below is a 9 minute video trip report that's heavy on gear ramblings. (Look! Embedded!)
For those of you wondering: I used two hammocks (no, not at the same time): one for lounging and my WBBB for sleeping.
You get a tour of the lounging hammock and a view of the interior of the WBBB.
Listen to birdsong and EAY going on and on and on. Finishes with some catchy music and, thankfully, no more talking!
There ya go!
Oh dear, I look dead!
Curse youtube's sudden but inevitable betrayal!

You do good work with the video , wish i could figure that stuff out better. Question; The food locker looked like just a wooden box, there's no bears in that area?

No bears that I know of but plenty of food-destroying critters like mice and raccoons and possums and so on. Some of the loops have had metal (?) boxes put in, some not. I suppose the wooden box would keep out larger critters.
Thanks for the kind words re the video - I just take lots and lots and lots of mini-movies and go through them. 90% of what I shoot is never seen by anyone but me.

The lake looks high right now. Too bad they'll inevitably let too much out come summer.

Ditto what Moski said. Nice video, sorry I didn't see it before now. I have friends close enough to walk to Folsom Lake but I've never camped there. Your video makes me want to camp there. I loved the morning bird songs.

Penninsula Campground is no longer open year-round (budget cuts) but if you call the main contact number for Folsom Lake SRA they can tell you when it'll be open.
Beal's Point (closer, a lot closer, to civilization and hence noisier) is open year round as far as I know.
so - get out there already!

Wow! This is a very classy and well done video report. My apologies! I too somehow missed this the first time around.
