Some folks use HH snake skins. There use to be a few different sizes but i think their all #4 or large now. That works well for most sil tarps. Some folks prefer Mesh skins made from no-se-um netting. If your going to buy there's a woman in Ncal, mountaingoat on the forum , who makes made to order mesh snake skins . My last mesh skins i made in two parts, one for each end of the tarp and i believe the taper was 8" and 4", that was for a spinn tarp i have but sil could be made narrower.

Don't know if you want to do it, but since you have a Doubenest like me, I cut the side flaps off and had my wife sew one skin for my Toxaway. Used one whole side and about 3 feet of the other side. Works great:)
So if I pull that stitching out, is there a hem left or is it just a raw edge? I'd do it myself but I'm worried to rip the material.Quote:

I cut the flaps close to the main body with scissors, so I did not cut or remove the stitching, that way the structure is still sound. There will be some fraying of the remaining flap material. I believe there is a post on the ENO subforum about ways to remove the side flaps, probably ways to make a cleaner cut than with scissors so you don't get any fuzzies.
Anyways, after the flaps are cut they are wide enough to sew a double hem to make the snakeskin tube. You can either make the traditional double tube or sew enough length on to one end to make a single tube like I did.
Hope this makes sense. If I had a way to make digital pictures to post it would be easy to see what I'm talking about.
