What should I use? I have a bunch of amsteel left over from my whoopies, but I'm worried that would cut into the fabric. Or should I just leave it alone.

I've used all kinds of stuff to whip my DIY hammocks, shoe laces, paracord, even zip ties, and amsteel...I've never had any problems with it, I also larkshead my whoopies just behind the whipping, which as far as I know is the standard m.o. all with no harm to the bed fabric:)
I have amsteel loops larksheaded in the end channels of my ENO's. Going on a year with my first ENO so I wouldn't worry about it cutting the fabric. When I first switched the ENO suspension I was over 290lbs and had no issues. Even at 230lbs I still see no signs of wear at all.
