Tarp Tensioner Question
I'm just in the midst of changing my tarp system around for my hammock and have a quick question. I am planning on using prussic knots attached to my tarp ridgeline, which I will attach to the D rings on my tarp. My question is this: can I simply attach the prussik knot directly to the D ring or should I be using some sort of S biner or something? I plan on keeping the tarp ridge line exclusively for use with the hammock and tarp (with Snake Skins) so to me it kind of makes sense to cut weight, to just tie the prussic's right to the D-rings. Does that make sense?
Thanks in advance!

Hey there, I do exactly what you describe. I have my prusik attached directly to my tarp d rings and then around my tarp ridgeline.

yea i do the same. just without snake skins, and i have to tie and untie the prusik from the tarp. it works as i use longer cords to make it easier

I use a small S-hook to attach my prussiks to my tarp. I pinch closed the end of the hook that is attached to the prussik and leave the other end of the hook open. With that setup, I can change the orientation of my tarp if I want to. By unhooking the S-hooks I can turn the tarp to change ridgeline length or even go diagonally if desired. All without untying anything.

+1 on the sbiners, .....let the confusion begin.....

i made some soft shackles to prusik my tarp to the crl. they work well.

Forget the biners unless you are going to be changing out multiple tarps on the same ridgeline.

You could also put the loop of the prussik through the D-ring and use a toggle to keep it there.
