Another Newb from FL
Just getting my 10 yr old son excited about hiking, and hanging. We have been tent camping with scouts for a few years, but really like the idea of hanging.
I took him on the approach trail at Amicalola Falls a few weeks ago and I think it got some wheels turning on how fun it all can be. We cheated that trip and stayed at the Len Foote Hike Inn, but had a great time. Hoping to do a week on the AT next summer with him.
Looking forward to getting ideas and tips from all the veterans.

Welcome aboard from Lakeland. We have a fairly large family of hangers down here in Florida. Some of the group up your way are already getting into hanging this summer. Most of us central and south wait until it cools off a little bit more. Plenty of time to set up you and your son for the 3 Annual Florida Hang in Jan. Here are links to this years, the 2 nd and the 3 rd.

Welcome from Pensacola Beach. HF is a great forum full of excellent folks willing to help. Lots of Florida hangers too. Happy to help with any questions. Actually doing a week on the AT with a bunch of NW Florida hangers in two weeks.

Welcome from Gainesville!
+1 on olddog's advice; that hang in January is going to be a blast. I've never eaten so well at a gathering, and I've been to some food conventions over the years.
Welcome to the madness!
