I'm game for backpacking and hanging...or hanging and socializing...

I'm chuffed my thread starting something groovy and positive!
Let's plan an October hang, sounds epic to me.
Sipsey, DeSoto, Jericho, Oak Mountain.... What are your suggestions for destinations and dates, guys?
Perhaps a casual/car hang with some day hiking options? What would everyone prefer?
Oct 6th and 13th, (both Saturdays) are the only nights I could do in Oct.
Do any of these weekends work for y'all?
I could do the weekend of the 13th, pending approval of the wife. Turnipseed 0campground has been a good spot up at Cheaha in the past. I have hung up at Desota several times. Always been nice. Have not been to the Sipsey yet. Where would work best for those interested?
Turnipseed near Cheaha is hard to beat for all the options: close to parking yet remote, enough trails to satisfy those wanting to do casual to serious hiking, reliable water, and... a PRIVY! However, we've done that several times.
Sipsey is good.
I've been to DeSoto several times but never camped there. Does it have what we want?
Pine Glen campground on the Pinhoti north of I-20? This may have been the most beautiful hike I've done in Ala, in the spring. You will need a good map to get to it.
Jericho, nice, but a long, steep hike, i.e no dutch ovens.
Oak Mountain, hiked all over the place, only camped there once. Centrally located.
Somewhere on Guntersville?
Y'all pick. The main thing for me for this trip will be the fellowship.
It is indeed. It might be worth remembering that the wilderness now has a group size limit of 10, and it is being enforced.
I concur. The section from there north to Pink's is a phenomenal hike in the spring. Just over 18 miles, but there are other trailhead options in between.
Pine Glen is a nice campground for a static hangout. Privy, fire rings, beautiful area, right beside a creek, lots of hiking, nearby lakes for fishing, etc.
My vote is for Turnipseed. Sipsey would be fabulous, but I don't want hangers to miss out if we end up with more than ten members wanting to go. Either that, or Pine Glen for a change up.
Turnipseed is indeed nice, but we have done that several times in the past, so a change might be good for those that have been in the past. However, there are some new names here, so Turnipseed would be fine again with me. Have not camped at Pine Glen, so I am game for either one.
I would interested in another hang but right now it looks like I only have the first and last weekends of October available. I will keep an eye on this thread to see if anything develops.
