Dutch Biners..... WELL worth the price i have over 300+ nights on my set and they still work and look just like the day i got them in the mail
when it comes to biners spend money and get something good or you will end up on your back side :scared:;)
I like the 500 kg biners that Treklight sells. I believe DIYgearsupply has them now as well. They're lighter than climbing hardware, but strong enough for my hammock use, and they're round and smooth so lines aren't in danger of fraying. I went to the company that prints the logos on them and bought a bunch (with my logo, yet to be unveiled), and the price came down quite a bit.
I'm not a light weight kinda guy and figure the few extra grams for the climbing rated biner just might keep gravity from slam dunking me in the middle of the night. If I "go to ground" unintentionally...I'm not a happy dude. It's only a couple dollars more to have that extra security.....but then I use 1/8 whoopies because I am paranoid. Just my 2 cents.
I figure I have other places to cut weight ( primarily off of me ) to worry about before worrying about a couple oz that I could shave off my gear. YMMV
you pay shipping i'll send you $15 cabiners for free. (PM)
I think the CAMP Nano 23 is the lightest climbing rated biner. I really like mine.
Metolius make one that is a bit smaller than the Camp nano yet is till climbing rated.

REI (and Amazon) have climbing biners for less than 6$ each. Rated to around 5000# if my math is right.
Of course you could make amsteel biners too.
No biener rivals a dutch biener.
I have been using Soft Shackle - 7/64" Standard Duty Amsteel "biners" from whoopieslings.com , they come in a pack of two and weigh 0.12 oz (I don't have any affiliation with whoopieslings). I weigh 205 lbs. and they have worked well for me.
