If you move, you could always sawsall the poles at the base (or put up a couple hammocks as an incentive for people to buy your house!).

Ugh, I hate bradford pears. We are constantly cutting them up to remove from roadways at work. The municipality that I work for decided they would be a good choice for curbside trees. NOT! Those things are constantly splitting and falling over.

I had one tree in the backyard. So to solve this problem I put a 2" galv pipe, about 30" down and set in concrete. Worked perfect until the tree died :(. As to a pole looking stupid in the middle of the yard, I surrounded it in a garden and put a birdhouse on top :). Think I need another birdhouse :rolleyes:
