My first hang
Here is a very brief (sorry) report of my first hang.
It was in September '09 when my friend and I decided to go on a 2 day canoe trip on the Vltava river here in the Czech Republic.
We started off in a place called Zbraslav on the Southern edge Prague, paddled upstream to Vrane Nad Vltavou, portaged around the dam then up to a small island near Davle where the Sazava river meets the Vltava on the first day. We had a lovely dinner of chilli con carne and planned on having a little nip of single malt...

On the second day we did the same trip in reverse going with the flow which was just as well as we were a little hungover after starting and finishing a bottle of Laphroaig between the two of us, added to the fact that we were a little achy after the previous days paddle.
So without further ado, on to the photos...
A misty morning ont he river - early AM day 1
Camp - mine is the one on the left
The beautiful Czech Republic - day 2 (it's not my homeland but it has a place in my heart after living here for 3 years)
Wee cottages along the riverbanks
...and that's it, not many pics as I'm always a bit wary of a few K worth of DSLR going overboard :scared:
We're going on a 3 dayer later this month and I'll try to show you guys that too. Happy Hanging! Col
HEY Thanks ... great shots ... looks like a fun trip!
Beautiful spot, and I like your camp set-up!
Many thanks guys, I'm glad you like them and find them interesting :)
Gorgeous! I want to go there.
Awesome shots! Thanks for sharing.
Agreed, nice pictures. Thanks for posting them!
Looks like a nice trip, thanks for sharing
Great pics. Lovely country. Tells us a bit about your gear.
Sure! To be honest it's all very off the shelf but you have to start somewhere right? :)

I have the Snugpak UQ sold by DD hammocks. It's nice and warm I'll give it that but it is very bulky and not the lightest at 1.376kg (48.6oz) and 26x26cm (10.2"x10.2") fully compressed.
Tarp wise I again have a DD hammocks 4.5x3m (14.7'x9.8') again it's PU coated polyester which isn't the lightest and a bit big which doesn't help matters. All tied up with paracord and some cheap cord I got at a supermarket here.
I really like the idea of DIY, with my lessons learnt and with lots of research on here I'm about to order some things that should make an improvement. Some dynaglide to have a go at making some whoopie slings, some Zing-IT for tarp ridgeline and other bits and bobs. I'm also going to order some pertex/ripstop nylon, down and have a go at a making an UQ and finally some silnylon and make a cat cut tarp. It sounds like a big undertaking for a noob but I have a little experience with a thread injector and a mum who can guide me next time I'm back in the UK using her machine :D
