Permanent Inground Hammock Stand: Ideas
I have a large, flat lawn in my backyard that overlooks a small lake and wish to make a permanent hammock stand—something solid, in-the-ground (I don’t mind hoisting a shovel and using a little underground cement). I have a perfect flat grassy spot to view the lake yet private from neighbors, and I will do some nice plantings around it, so I really don’t want a portable stand (I can dig up this one up or chop it off if I ever have to). Cost not a major issue, just want to get it done right. I saw a video, I think it was Opie’s on the whoopiesling site, and he had a large permanent frame in his backyard– something like that. Maybe Opie will chime in.
Anyone have ideas or plans (height, spread, etc.), particularly those that have made one?? I’d especially like it if it had opportunity for mounting more than one hammock (i.e Gilligan and Skipper style) or had other uses than just a hammock, things I may not even be thinking of now. And of course I will use it to overnight test new gear.
I live in Illinois, and own a HH Expedition, ENO Single and Double and Kelty 9 Tarp—likely be using ENO most often on it. I am new to this forum, and I did an extensive search and found nothing about in-grpund permanent stands, but if I missed something, please direct me. Thank you all in advance.
