JRB or MacCat Deluxe?
I'm going to be looking for a tarp for my first hammock, I will be going with either an Eno DoubleNest or the TrekLight version. Last week, I ordered an Oware 8x10 tarp (9.5' actual ridgeline) because I figured I'd be doing ground camping again this year. It's a flat rectangle style with about 12 tie-outs. However, it may be too small for ideal use in bad weather. It hasn't shipped yet, I could likely cancel the order, but I really hate doing that to good people like Dave @ Oware. I'd likely sell it once I received it.
I am now looking at either the new JRB 11' x 10' or a MacCat Deluxe. I am sure either one would work well, this is why it's a tough decision to make. However, JRB has always done very well by me in the past and I do like giving them my business when I can.
I have both of these and I like both of them.

What you get with the 11'x10' is so much coverage that
you can fold back the ends and get more wind and weather protection. The cat cuts are much less pronounced. They also come in nice stealthy colors, whereas the MacCat is grey (with some black available now the site says).
While I only just got the 11'x10', I'm foreseeing that its the tarp I'll use in colder times, with the MacCat coming back out for the summer time.
I use a DIY knock-off of the MaCat and it's still my favorite tarp. I've used the Speer 11x10 winter tarp, the now discontinued Gear Guide tarp, stock HH tarps, as well as a couple of others and I still keep falling back on my hex cat cut tarp.
Either tarp would be a great choice. I'd go with the JRB cause it's bigger and has more pitch options.
And I'm pretty partial to the Jacks as well.
Yeah, the JRB tarp looks sweet.. especially the Cat Tarp Tent configuration.
