I agree with Cannibal. Also, in my opinion you get better protection with the stock tarp if you attach it to the suspension rope like HH recommends. It may sag a little when you get in, but it stays closer to the hammock that way. Tieing directly to the trees, gives a nice taught pitch, but then when you get in, the hammock pulls away from the tarp potentially leaving you exposed to wind blown rain.
With that said, I eventually got a larger tarp for those low stress trips where there's considerable time lounging around camp, (with a bake-packer, guitar, etc. ) But if its a fast and light trip, then I go back to the stock tarp set.
