Just a quick (obvious) one - hang the hammock so the prevailing wind, if there is any, is blowing perpendicular to the length of the tarp and not whistling down the head or foot end. Oh, and centre the tarp along the length of the hammock using the slidy things.

Good info here! The stock hh tarp gives awesome coverage if properly hung before a storm. You can use small bungees to help tension it also so it doesn't sag as bad when you get in. I've used mine in the rain but the hh hex tarp is "dab bomb" (a little heavy for a few folks here though). With the hex I've weathered some serious blowing rain and stayed bone dry.
