I started backpacking about a year ago. I went a few times as a boy scout about twenty some years ago and forgot how much i used to enjoy it. The first three trips I did last fall I slept in a tent and just never slept well. So I figured I'd give this hammock thing a try. Needless to say I'm not going back! I did however learn he hard way that bottom insulation is necessary in cold weather. After watching a ton of Shug's youtube videos I think I have my setup dialed in pretty well. Those videos also led me here.
I'm heading out for my first multi-night trip in a couple of weeks and I can't wait. I'm doing the Black Forest Trail in PA starting on October 8th. I'm going to take my time and hopefully catch some of the fall color change. If anyone has any suggestions or tips for this trail just let me know.

Welcome to the forum and glad you discovered backpacking again. Scouting got me started many years ago as well. Have a great time on the BFT. Was there last weekend with my yougest son and plan on doing the loop after work on Friday Oct 5th. Maybe we'll cross paths.
