Big (big) Daddy
Its been a long time coming...I need to go string up the tarp. I opted for the 144" ridgeline for more coverage.
What do you guys recommend for the ridgeline?
I was thinking of using prusiks on either end to attach to a single ridgeline. I am not as high speed as others here, I am going to use paracord until I figure out what line I should purchase.
Any info would be helpful.
Many people find Zing-It (1.75mm line) as a good option for a tarp ridgeline. Some use a continuous ridgeline and use prussik's as you mention or use two separate lines - one for each end of the tarp. Let's see a pic of that beautiful Big Daddy!
i use zing-it. about 30' of it with a dutch hook on one end and a dutch fly on the other two prussics with dutch ti biners to hold the tarp
Congrats on the Big Daddy, its a wonder piece of kit!
30' of zingit. A dutch hook on one side. A figure-9 on a prussik for the other side. Tarp attached via small biners to prussiks.
Paracord will work just fine, esp while you play with how you would like it rigged.
Thanks for the info.
I currently have 550 cord, and use a figure 9 to secure it to the tree. I then have 2 tiny S biners to secure the prusics to the tarp.
I want to try a 2 piece ridgeline...mostly because it will save me 12' of cordage.
Zing-it seems to be popular. Is $5.50 for 25' pretty standard pricing?
Based on what I've seen, yeah.. that's a good price. Definitely consider swapping out the figure-9 and s-biners for some Dutch Stingerz. The Stinger replaces both in a single piece that weighs much less. I mis-spoke earlier when I said I used the Tarp Flyz, two Stingerz is what I have (they are both on the same page, I confuse them often.

Same link as in my post above for Tarp Flyz.
Flyz and Stingerz are on the same page: http://www.outdoortrailgear.com/featured/dutch-flyz/
$9 bucks a piece is a little spendy when I know how to tie a truckers hitch for free.
I like the Zing-it though.
