Gonna have to watch the dutch clip vid again tried my new cinch buckles on the diy hammock just made an this being 1st time ever to hang a hammock i tore my brand new strap with the clip.lol I'll get it figured out but we did get to try hammock out an laid pretty good for table cloths.
Just want to make clear it wasn't a dutchware problem it was a newbie problem.lol
You tore a strap! Wow, how did you manage that one. A picture would help.
Good luck finding a fix. Straps are more temperamental about load directions and orientation than regular ropes. When you're setting it up try to imagine which direction your setup will be pulling the strap and do your best to get that force spread evenly across the wide flat part, if too much force goes along the thin edge, trouble can ensue.
ran in to the same thing myself. I had just put in the structural ridgeline and decided to pull the straps tight and once I got in one slipped, tore the strap and not quite gently dropped me on my arse.
I also at first only had two passes on an attempt at a pursik which didnt fill the whole bottom of the buckle. I put three loops on it which filled the bottom of the buckle and tried it hanging properly and also with a slippery half hitch at the buckle. I kept an eye on it as I put weight to it...noticed it wanted to twist and turn so I took it loose and just flipped it 180. Seemed to hang better after all that.
If I give up on them at the hammock end I may just move them to the tree end and do a marlin spike at the hammock...dunno. I suspect I will go through several options since I cant leave well enough alone and am skilled at fixing things that aren't broken :)
