Heat, Mosquitoes & Tarp Color
I did a search for this topic, but only found an old archived thread that mainly dealt with stealth vs being found in an emergency. If this is a redundant thread, I apologize!
Since my tarps will spend more time being used in the summer I was worried that a dark color tarp will heat up the air, and me, below. Have any of you black tarp users found this to be the case?
When looking around at ripstop it seems black tends to be the cheapest color and while I'm all for saving a buck or two, I don't want to put the money out only to sew myself a portable oven.
I also read that blue tends to attract mosquitoes. Anyone know if this is true or not? If this is true I may have to replace my blue Wally World tarps quicker than I had originally planned.
Re: Heat, Mosquitoes & Tarp Color
On the mosquito thing... Mosquitoes are attracted to heat and dark colors... I have read that on more than one out door website and a few scientific websites... So it must be true if I saw it on the internet :D
