NEW blackbird owner
hello all, after much reading the bird bit me and brandon made the cure, now i am a fairly new hanger, but like good stuff this is great stuff, coming out of a eno doublenest, i have many questions about this "bird" i know its soppose to be dummy proof but no one has met me yet hahah!! tips tricks on the set up of this? what is a ridgeline? videos? these black straps that came with the bird what are they for? the little tie outs on both sides with white rope? i know lots of dumb questions but i believe there is no such thing as a dumb quetion. no i am not selling it.you can pm me if you like or you can email me at email@example.com to all of you experts out there thank you!!!!
Congrats! I am borrowing one and after laying about, I went ahead and ordered one too. Really nice hammock.
Hooked hey Prez
welcome to the club
We had a decoder ring but it was lost, and Cannibal ate the cookies
how are you kayaknut01,
this video will help out a lot. Shug is a great explainer about this hammock.
i wanted the decoder ring!!!!!
thanks golfer i forgot about ole shug and his video it did help not getting the ridgeline just yet don't see a way to adjust it
so the white ropes on the sides go to a ground stake, one per side of hammock. put the looped end over the stake, the cordlock will jam into the ring and you can tighten it there.
you need 2 carabiners, clip one into the loop in the end of the 1" webbing (repeat other side). now clip around the tree, adjust webbing(via the ringbuckles) so it's at a 30 deg angle and hammock is at appropriate entering height, then tie a backup knot behind the rings (slipped half hitch). this is a ringbuckle suspension, so you can find more info and pics here on hf by searching "ringbuckles"
That should be the next addition to your hammock, Brandon - some instructions with pictures. Make some photocopies of the different suspensions and wing tie-outs from all the gallery pictures, gin up a cheap color brochure, and stick it in with the hammock.
