Sources for Amsteel Line
I have been searching for 1/8" Amsteel line - here is what I found
I grabbed 125 feet from here 0.24 a foot
this was the second cheapest source 0.38 a foot
Then THis at 0.41 a foot
if you find other options post them

I paid $0.78 per foot for 7/64 the other day at West Marine. Not the best unless you need it fast and can't wait for it to come in the mail.
1/8" @ .26 here
7/64 @ .26 here
7/64" @ .34 here
Plus shipping I'm sure...
Redden Marine has the best prices on Amsteel Blue: 7/64 @16 cents/ft
If you call them with a small quantity order, they will only charge you actual postage. I believe the 7/64's would make a good bear bag line.
how strong is 1/8 amsteel line:cool:neo
Min strength is 1900 lbs, according to the table on this page. (scroll almost to the bottom)

Agreed. Shipping is ridiculous for what it weighs. Everywhere I've looked to order it the shipping is only a dollar or two less than the cost of the Amsteel.

If you call them during business hours and give them a card number they will only charge you actual postage. Remember they primarily sell to commercial fishermen and industrial concerns.

Just did some field tests while family camping last week in Zions NP. Held very well. If it gets wet the blue dye does begin to wash out and will get over your hands and clothes if you are not careful.
I also went with the 7/64 instead of the 1/8.
