I sold mine but never needed the ridgeline. That said, the handles are tough enough to handle it if you wanted to use it as an experiment. If you DO opt for the holes I'd also put in a tiny set of...

I sold mine but never needed the ridgeline. That said, the handles are tough enough to handle it if you wanted to use it as an experiment. If you DO opt for the holes I'd also put in a tiny set of...
Sadly you are not all wrong! Worse is when friends find out you are a photographer, have good gear, multiple flashes, etc. Suddenly you are invited to everything with the purpose of providing free...
Thanks! And for all it has the extras it's not that much heavier than a normal one since I use mostly lightweight fabrics and titanium hardware. If you do decide to try the bugnet the key is to find...
OMG... THE Shug? Now I feel honored as your videos have a lot to do with how I shifted around from normal bought hammocks to the DIY and cottage industry! And yeah, the bike maybe has a feature or...
I can't help feeling there is a made-for-TV movie in there somewhere. lol

When is enough enough when it comes to the doodads on your DIY hammock?
How does it go from something simple like "Hey, this Eno is comfortable but this Half moon Hammock even more so......
I have the Z-liners that I use for both the Vertex and the NX-270. The velcro makes them hassle-free and gathered up nicely. Someone mentioned huge gaps but I didn't have any. They are good down to...
The Vertex works on the 2-person vertex hammock well enough but excels on the NX-270 and it's single-hammock brethren. It also has the velcro to close it off at the ends but that won't work on the...
I used continuous loops and a titanium hook/whoopie sling set-up for my NX-270. Super quick to set up and easy to adjust. I got the stuff to convert my Vertex over to the same but never did.
I switched back and forth between the Z-liner (that I got with my Vertex) and a Hammock Gear 20. The Z-liner simply velcro's on and works well, the Hammock gear was a little fiddly but works well....
Thanks! That will be this weekend. Got the camera ready to go, my Snep Hammock and associated bits set aside, a nice OneTigris hammock hot tent with the stove just in case and the fall colors of the...
So this is what happens when you give up home internet for roughly a decade and come back! You find you still have Hammock Forums bookmarked!
Along the way i evolved from using a pair of Clark...
Already have both zippers sewn in. Guess I can either try to flip so the ends are over the head (sew fresh clips on the other end) or and a fixed opening zipper along the side of the net/cover so I...
So I screwed up! Trying to make my first removable bug net and top cover using 2 sets of the 240" zippers. They are silky smooth and the perfect length on my 11' hammock. Problem: somehow I was...
I use the first hammock I ever made beneath the one I sleep in, have a ridgeline bag, and made a gear loft (mini hammock) that attatches to the rideline. When motorcycle camping it keeps everything...
I'd love it if Tacblades and Kitsapcowboy would chime in with a good set of plans. This is an evolutionary step I also want to try. :)
Knotty mod. Easy to do, cures the flapping, keeps pillows and such in, adjustable, etc.
Looks great and I'm another one for handles/gear loops and contrasting stitches. Fair warning, I went from braving my first hammock to making 8 of them, winter tarp (disaster!) underquilt protection,...
Looks great! Both the gear and the spot! You sure won't be forgetting your straps. Lol
# is for tic tac toe and a pound sign. I've been a twit but never tweeted. Haven't been on DB in 5 years and missed nothing, and no, I still don't care what my friends had for dinner. I'm quite...
Virgin Falls state park. Lots of waterfalls, overhangs, caves, etc and its free. Frozen Head became one of the overpriced Stick-it Master victims this past spring where you have to pay lots of fees...
Its going to be a week or sew (grin) but I shall be ordering a bit. In the meantime I can make paper cut outs to figure the best use of material to achieve what I want. A ruler, printer paper, tape,...
Its all about having fun and playing like a kid for me. Car camping? Very rare but don't care what I bring. Motorcycle? I bring a lot less, about the same as backpacking since I usually ride off road...
Thanks! I'm hoping if I get my skills where I want them that getting into special bits might make enough on the side to pay for the machine. Lol. I'm having fun with getting the right materials and...
Dutch, don't you have that extra wide silny or silpoly? I've wanted to make a winter tarp out of that as it feels like the sides on the kit I got were a bit short. I debated making a 3-panel out of...
Thanks for the heads up!
I'm hoping to swing the 9960 next month. How does it do with Mara70?
Looks like a great start! What kind of materiel did it need?
I don't care about the base weights and have been out without a lot of the gear. I honestly think I have more fun playing with the doodads and widgets than anything else. I'm just a geek like that....
I didn't see the XL on their site? I like my DIY winter tarp but it feels cramped. I was thinking of using the extra sized Dutch favpbric but if this is bigger, compacts smaller, and better I'm...
I'm an average temp sleeper with cold feet. Hammock gear has a great option where I got my 20degree incubator and burrow with an extra ounce of down in the foot/leg area. Works perfectly for me. I'd...
A good night out with the daughter? Sounds great!
Always worth checking out new options. It seems the market is flooded with cheap parachute hammocks. Ones with bug nets start as little as $19! The materials cost more (retail)
No way to raft it. Its really rocky and shallow. Doubt even a playboat kayak could do it but yes Thats where I put in. The tornadoes trashed the Abrahm's side so we used panther creek side. There...
I go to both frequently enough my mail carrier asks what my latest project is but I don't think either carry anything close to the parachute stuff. Thanks for the suggestion, both are top notch!
Thinking of trying something more for casual lounging that has more stretch than my 1.6HyperD. Looking for a good source of *wide* parachute materiel. I'm wondering if I can't do it better than Eno....
My first hammock came out better than expected though I made a few storage bags for practice. Yours looks fantastic compared to my tarp! Lol. Now that you have the first one it will get addictive!
Now that you had it a while what do you think of the 9960?
That will be perfect once I get the sewing machine fixed!
Looks great to me! About to embark on my first integrated net project. Should be interesting. :)
(preparing list of appropriately inappropriate 4-letter words)
Not bad either way. I'm interested!
Looks interesting. How far is the hike to 17? I used to kayak camp the creek via hwy 129 but the tornadoes and water draw sort of nixed that the last 2 years.
When & where?
Maybe HF thinks you are talking about an Australian trip? (ducking)
Flatter lay with less sprawling room than my 11' DIY gathered. It is a fair bit shorter and my Clark stays in my room on a standard hamock stand though it is 1 notch shorter from its longest setting....
The trip reminds me of my first backpacking trip. Fontanna Dam to a lake shore campsite then a 'little' climb up to Shuckstack tower. In the hottest week of August with a 50lb+ pack (no light gear,...
Digging the green. I have a bright grey that won't seem to die. Awesome deal even at the $45 I paid a few years back. :)
I'm much the same in hoping this repair will fix it. Like you said, mine lacks all the goofy features I probably wouldn't ever use but it seems solid. Well, beyond coughing up broken bits of bobbin...
Thought it was older than that but then I'm an antique myself. Lol
There are probably any number of things that are worse but when you are in the middle of a hammock project for a friend and halfway through sewing the first ever integrated zipper the machine makes a...
And I just ordered the hyper 1.6! Again... Lol
