I just wanted to take a few moments to share my appreciation for the folks over at Hammock Gear.
I have been a sleeping pad guy for the past few years but I finally got some extra cash together to...
Thanks crew. If anyone has a preference for down UQ for their Frontline, I would still like to hear about it. Otherwise, it sounds like I can go in about any direction I want.
Sleeping in my frontline tonight, and all is well, but I'm finally tired of trying to stay centered on my pad to avoid cold spots.
Anyone have any suggestions for which underquilts best fit the...
Anyone know much about this trail?
http://www.backpacker.com/trips/missouri/springfield-big-piney-trail/
I was planning on heading that way on Friday, October 31st, hoping to be at the...
Is this part of the OT? I have yet to hike any of that trail, but definitely want to. My family and I are already heading to that part of the state later this week to visit relatives in Rolla. I may...
Man, what a bummer. I have hiked two sections of the OHT in the past year, but not the section you guys were on. The sections I went on were in great condition. It seems like different sections of...
I haven't found that list yet. Where would be the appropriate place to start a list like this? I'm not sure how many hangers there are in the KC Metro-ish area, but I for one would like to know of...
Did you get the pack? What do you think?
Cool. Thank you.
I wonder if the DD Underblanket would fit in one of the side pockets. I know I saw someone post on here that it will not fit in the action pack with the rest of the UL gear. I am...
Do you know how much the DD Bergen Rucksack weighs? Maybe I am overlooking it, but I don't see it.
This is a great find. I had no idea this place was up there. I especially love that there is a little 2.5 mile trail. It also looks like a good spot for a group hang. I am always on the lookout for...
I would be interested in a group buy.
Send some pics with the underblanket when you get a chance!
I would think about the Frontline over the Travel hammock. The only difference between the two is that the base layer material on the Frontline is breathable. The Travel hammock base layer is not,...
I was really glad to see them offer the Jungle Hammock with the 2 base layers. That was my only hold up on ordering this hammock. I hope you enjoy!
Help me out...where/what is Woodridge?
Thanks.
Count me in! Thank you! Looks like an awesome kit!
I like it. Be sure to post some pictures when it is finished.
Mind if I join?
Not 100% sure I can make it, but the route you picked is the exact one I have been looking at for the past couple of months.
Looks like a great place to hang. Thanks for scouting it out.
How far did you have to hike to get to the spot? I'd like to get my kids over there to see how they do sleeping in the woods instead of the backyard.
Good video. Thanks for posting.
But you can use the rainfly on the bottom right? In essence making it a double layer bottom if you set it up that way.
Could you possibly post a picture of the hammock packed in its stuff sack? I love my frontline but am thinking about picking this one up but am concerned about how much space the whole system will...
I now have my kids, ages 4 and 5, addicted to sleeping I the hammocks the backyard with me. The problem is that I only have two hammocks, so I am one short for all three of us to hang. I know...
I was literally hours away from buying a HH as my first hammock when I found this forum. I am glad I did because it made me realize that I wasn't ready to spend the money on an under quilt and since...
I can't tomorrow unfortunately. I will be stuck at work until 8:00. I do want to know about this great hanging spot though. Blue and Grey is so close it seems silly not to run over there more often.
Blue and Gray is fantastic. I've never hung out there, just some hiking and geocaching. Tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't think camping is technically allowed out there except for the designated...
I would be interested in a hike and hang. I was tentatively planning a trip over to the OT at the end of September with a buddy of mine. Any other suggestions for great places to hike and hang in...
Kingsville, MO? Woah, that's close. I live in Lone Jack. Maybe we should do our own Johnson County, MO hang. I have a Hennessy and a DD Hammock that I can bring. I sure would like to check out a...
Have you had a chance to do any research? It looks like there are quite a few people who are interested.
Thanks!
If deal on lantern falls through, I'll take it.
I hope you enjoy your DD frontline. I love mine. Coyote brown is new this year, wasn't an option when I bought mine in March. Given the choice I probably still would've stuck with the green. Plus DD...
That is precisely why I bought my my DD Frontline. I originally going to buy the Hennessy but ended up with the DD hammock because I didn't want to spring for the under quilt. I now have a Hennessy...
Right there with you. I joined this forum in March, bought my first hammock within a few weeks (DD Frontline).
After realizing how great it is to hang and that I want to be able to hang...
+1
I was trying to find the other day how big of tarp is recommended for when I hand the hammocks bunk bed style, with my son in the top and me on the bottom. My 10x10 tarp left me feeling a bit...
That's such a neat moment, isn't it? My five year old and I hung in the back yard a couple weeks ago. I was worried about him too. I hung the hammocks bunk bead style, he chatted for awhile, then I...
Looks like a spot I had a few months back in BWCA, can't wait to get back. Still had a beautiful hand in the yard last night with lows down in the 50's. an amazing July we are having here in Missouri.
Sounds fantastic. One day I will get to the AT, kids are too young now, but some day.
I also picked up a Hennessey hammock last week, so I have a couple options I could show you.
Keep me updated if you would. I'm not much of a DIY guy, but a mosquito net surely can't be that hard.
Did you add a mosquito net to it? If so, what did you use?
I'll take your last pair of Ovals.
Welcome aboard!
Funny you mention that. I actually ended up sleeping in that night. My son up top and me down low...it wasn't that comfortable all night. I made it, but I woke up a lot. A ridgeline would help.
This thing is basically a ENO single nest clone. For $25 I had to pick it up to check out. It probably won't be going on any backpacking trips, but it will be great for day hikes and lounging around...
Welcome!
What section of the AT are you planning on doing? I look forward to hearing about it.
If you want to check out a DD Hammock, let me know!
Definitely do the cat food stove. I made one earlier this spring and it works very well. Also, check out the link below. I love this guys website, he does lots of gear reviews from places like Costco...
Have a great trip everyone! I apparently don't check this part of the forums enough. I didn't see this thread until today. I hope to meet up with some fellow Missouri hangers soon!
I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread. I picked up the OT Trail Guidebook last winter and have been trying to decide where to go. I was hoping to do a similar trip in September. I haven't been on the...
If hammock is still available, I'll take it.

Hammockers are just a "higher" class of individuals.
Great post. I'm glad I found my way here.
