Here is my latest setup:
Resmed Air Mini with the TalentCell 24V battery. I purchased the cable that connects the battery to the AirMini from SleepRestfully.com - it is part # BPS-MINI-CAB-WHT...
Get the Ridgerunner (it’s currently on sale).
My DIY UQP is 54" x 101" (after hemming and channels). I have a roll hem along the sides with a channel for some shock cord that runs for about the middle 1/2 of the sides. The shock cord comes out...
I’ll measure my UQP tomorrow morning
I made those from a bike inner tube bought from Wally World.
Do it. The Eldorado on sale.
If you are at all 'close' you are GOING to have holes from embers. I don't even want to be near one at all and always want to be upwind. That is extremely difficult in the mountains when the wind...
This is my DIY version for my ridge runner. Never had an issue with it "dragging" the ground.

Not to late - even though you've already experienced some damage - but a pole mod and/or bumpers on the hammock where the spreader bars are your friend. I have a RidgeRunner and a nylon Cloudburst...
If it happens to be torn near the middle you could salvage for two chairs or a chair and a gear hammock.
Cut it down and turn the torn one into a hammock chair. You need one anyways.
Estes Park
Instead of drilling a hole to modify existing buckles couldn’t you just tie a small loop of cord around one of the buckles?
I’ve made several top and underquilts and they take a lot of time to make. The down is a big PITA to deal with. I love down quilts but will never make another one. If I’m making any more diy quilts...
I bought a Thermarest Zseat cushion and use it in my foot box under my feet. Ever since doing this I haven’t had cold feet a single time yet.
Is there a code for the Warbonnet sale? I don't see the Eldorado price reflecting the 20% off? - never mind - the discount is finally reflected in the price.

Welcome to HF. I live in Murfreesboro as well and there are lots of trails and places to explore in TN. You can read up and check into down quilts for insulation but don't overlook the Climashield...
And the Eldorado.
PM just sent
I wouldn’t move. Using your logic you should in fact just find the most unlevel most rocky inhospitable site available every time just so you don’t have to move to give up a better chosen site.
I would go fully length for simplicity. I have both and the only time I use the 3/4 is when it is not cold enough to warrant the full length.
WAY to go Dutch that’s customer service right there. If it’s wrong he might have a whole batch that needs separated for 11’ or 12’ tarps to keep it from happening to the next customer. GOOD MAN.
I would notify Dutch of the miscut length whoops and swap them out for some the correct length.
Gathered end hammock with under quilt might stick with the standard. If you have a bridge hammock or intend to use it much on the ground go wide.
19F with 30-40 mph winds. Not sure what the wind chill was.
The rock field is definitely brutal at the end of a hike. And the stagecoach road is about as brutal as it gets at Savage Gulf. It ought to be called Kick Yout Butt Road.
I'll take it.
I have the Arrowhead bag for my poles and I made one for my son's poles. We both leave our underquilts attached and shove the hammock into the compactor bag liner in our packs. Makes for less space...
Welcome to a fellow Murfreesboro-ian. I haven't participated in any group hangs but lots of places to explore in TN. Big South Fork, Smoky Mountains, LBL, Frozen Head. Last year my son and I were...
Full length without a doubt.
My son and I hiked up Hazel Creek this summer on a three day two night hike and fishing trip. We camped at 83 the first night and 82 the second. We liked both.
I hate the extra time to stuff things into a stuff sack. And things fit into the pack much better if you just stuff everything into it. I do use a compactor bag inside the pack for the things I...
A loop starting at the Big Creek Trailhead up Big Creek Trail to campsite 37 up Swallow Fork Trail to the Benton MacKaye Trail up to the top of Sterling Mnt and campsite 38, then back down the steep...
My son told me on our last trip that converting our Cloudburst tarps to CRL (over the top) was one of the best mods we've done. Makes deploying the tars so much faster and easier.
Either DIY out of heat shrink tubing or bicycle inner tube or buy a set from AHE. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I made ours out of bicycle inner tube. We use these even though we also use a...
Make sure you pitch the foot end higher than the head end. This will keep you positioned in the hammock so you don't slide down toward the foot end. If I don't do this I always wind up sliding...
Hike hard to your camping spot and you'll be so tired you won't even think about it being "spooky".
Cages Bend in Hendersonville area north of Nashville. Montgomery Bell state park a little southwest of Nashville.
We really like our tyvek remnants. They've been used probably 5 years or so and been washed and dried many times so they're really soft - not crunchy and loud. I also don't mind the white. It helps...
Researched making my own from Kevlar fabric from eBay. In the end just bought an Ursack off Amazon. Would have preferred to save a little $$. But I like my new Ursack.
I've pitched my hammock here. It's right off of i40 not too far from gatlinburg. http://www.foxfireriversidecamp.com/campreservations.html
Pretty simple for me - Because tying knots that hold with zing it and lash it kind of sucks compared to using wasps and line locks.
Just went to Frozen Head this weekend. It was a nice hike/hang.
It is absolutely worth it to never have to sleep on the ground again. I won't camp if I have to sleep in a tent.
Remember the part above about hanging the foot end higher than the head end. This keeps you from slipping towards the foot throughout the night. The RR provides the Most comfortable sleep while...
Didn't hit the ground but came close.
I like them with one exception - when using them in the rain the wet straps slipped through them. So I made a small cinch knot of the tag end of the webbing to stop them from slipping.
Finally found a used one on the site earlier this year. That quilt got to return home to its birthplace - Murfreesboro Tn.
