That machine looks really cool though might be overkill - not being able to rest in the middle of a cut is tough too. I've always been able to get by with a soldering iron and a ruler.

Sounds like it'll be fun guys, cant make it this time but I'll keep an eye out for the next one.
sounds like a good trip to me... though i cant quite confirm whether I can make it yet.
However, I'm a beginner when it comes to hiking, hope you guys don't mind having a slowpoke along!
I'd be interested... I'll keep an eye out here for any planning. It'd be great to meet some fellow hangers, I've yet to see any out in the field.
haha thing is i prefer to keep sharp blades away from my sleeping bag...
the ziplocks would definitely hold the sleeping bag corners more tightly though.
anyway, let's see what the OP ends up...
i tried something like hanging the hammock as well... basically i made a double layer hammock and pulled the inner layer a little tighter than the outer one, so there was a bit of space (which allows...
i had so much fun making that picture, here is another one showing what it looks like in action...

when i get home...
What i tried was to use shock cord to tie up each of the corners of the sleeping bag. the shock cord then goes to 4 places, 2 loops go up to the ridgeline for hanging, and 2 to the ends of the...
Thanks for pointing me to Blake's hitch, Xauto. Looks like it should be good for creating a loop just like the adjustable grip hitch. If they use it for climbing trees, i agree - it should be enough...
ah cool, sounds good, i think i will experiment further.
it's just that i'm also interested from an academic point of view whether the adjustable grip hitch would be reliable enough for taking the...
i didnt see them using an adjustable slide and grip hitch anywhere in that thread though... did i miss something?
you are all correct, of course
i've started fiddling and the system has gradually grown and changed. suffice to say, i'm no longer prusiking the main line onto the hammock any more. the main issue...
hahah yeah i think i'll simply use a round turn + two half hitches or something next time for the loop - it may prevent a nasty accident.
at the moment i love playing around with knots so i'll...
Just wanted your input on whether it is a bad idea to use an adjustable hitch to create loops at the end of the main line. These are loops that would go around a toggle that also connects to the tree...
Thanks DeeGore, for the info and the welcome :)
one thing though my prusik is directly on the hammock, using the ridgeline
the hammock itself (when bunched up) is way thicker than my cord...
Hi everyone,
First post here - i'm inexperienced with hammocks, ropes, knot tying and the like - but I did a bit of searching around and I dont see anyone doing it the way I am.
I'm working on...
