Hi Paul, any progress on the Hot House project?
Awesome question mate. Anyone else got any input?
Cheers guys. I'm normally a fan of the subdued earthen colours but really like the orange & silver. Good marker panel for when I go awol up in the hills.....I hope it never comes to that....kidding....
Just threw this up for you Paul- http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?p=847021#post847021
I really really like your work, the WD12 is the BEST!!!!
Cheers mate, keep up the great...
After hangin on Mt Barney in winter I decided two things. 1: I want a tarp with doors. 2: I want a hammock underquilt.
My search for both sent me to Paul at Underground Quilts & Outdoor Gear in...
Nice one, thanks. I'll give it a bash for sure.
As if it's worth me doing it I'll add my name to the list.
While I prefer learning from other peoples mistakes more often than not it doesn't sink in until I do it myself.
I made this same little mistake while playing around just the other day.
I'm definately aware the straps are cusioning as opposed to weight bearing. That being said they are roughly 3 x thicker than seatbelt type webbing & more rigid.
This is a legit Q & not trying to...
Keep a carabiner on each end of the hammock.
Wrap the Whoopies like you do tree straps, clip the carabiners in to the adjustable loop, make the adjustment & done.
Yeah thought about that, the webbing I've used is a bit more thicker & rigid than the usual webbing. I'm pretty keen to keep tree damage to a minimum & keep people off our backs & I'm pretty...
That would probably work.
After thinking about the continuous loop chain & playing around I realised it would take a LOT of Amsteel to make, not very efficient use of product.
So I came up with...
I didn't mind whoopies but it annoyed me that you had to throw on the tree straps, Marlin Spike hitch, then whoopie onto the hitch & on top of all that you'd lose 50cm at each end.
So out of pure...
I see you're an Aussie. It's not restricted to Aussies but certainly is more relevant to us- http://bushcraftoz.com/forums/forum.php
Yeah mate, they are literally worth their weight in gold.
Don't get me wrong, whoopie's are great but you lose about a foot each end with the bury & tree strap attachment.
I've got some 1' webbing that is slightly thicker & rigid than standard webbing...
No, not at all. Just wanting a daisy chain similar to the Python Straps but made out of Amsteel for hammock suspension.
What if you brummell the ends together then bury the tails 4-6" into the...
OK, this is what I've gleaned from the replies so far-
I've used locked brummels, not splices.
A bury is designed to hold a load in line with the bury through constriction.
Brummels are only...
Yeah the I, Y, T anchor principles would apply to a degree but I have no idea of the details.
If the hang test goes all right I'll do up some real size daisy chains & set up the hammock & do the...
And if you've got a few things or bulky items you want to bring in- http://www.shipito.com/shop-pricing
You should be able to get a tent pole repair kit from your local camping store. Buy the 4 or 6mm kit & you'll be able to make quite a few spreaders just like the DD ones.
And another happy...
Here are some pics

Hey Backpack Hiker, I'm pretty much same specs as you & I'd have to say my experience is far from uncomfortable. I definitely prefer it over the HH Exped.
As for Mountain Hanger, maybe DIY is the...
Ha, I was confused just typing it & I've seen what I'm talking about. I'll try get some up this arvo.
I went out added my body weight to it a couple of times for 10secs & it didn't budge.
I've tried whoopie slings & while they work I'd prefer something quicker & easier like the Python Straps from Kammock.
Given that the Amsteel is so strong has anyone made an attempt at making a...
The DD is a fraction wider but a little shorter meaning the diagonal lay would be easier to acheive. Obviously it's up to the individual but if I had to buy without trying I'd take the cheaper of...
The only thing I can see that would vastly improve it would be replacing the hook & loop between the layers with a zip
Mate, I've got a Frontline it's good to go. From what I can see they are basically the same. Worth more than twice the price? I seriously doubt it
I got the XL & 3x3 but I don't think I'll be using the 3x3 since the XL covers awesomley, yes it's a word
Seen tents that set up on big walls. Never done either & don't think I ever will but it's impressive
After ordering a few hammocks & tarps off another internet hammock seller a few things wern't quite right. Inconsistancies, little faults, I won't go into it but I needed to go through it all...
What model did she win? They have a few, they're all 2 layer hammocks

Pretty good postage rates to Australia so UK should be fair.
I've got these & they work great-...
Feedback on the Gar-Griller & other options would be great. Been looking at multi fuel flatpack stoves with interest.
Chose not to invest in the Honey Stove, seemed to bend to easy with heat & a...
Let us know how they go mate.
I've got a roll 25mm webbing on it's way, I know it's strong enough & if it's weeve is tight enough I'll have to find someone willing to sew one up for me. I've had a...
Thanks guys & gals
From some pics & vids it looks like they are made of tube tape used in climbing. It's super strong but from the ones I've seen they soak up some serious amounts of water.
Have you had this happen...
Sweet. It would certainly cut down on bulk. Time to order the Amsteel.
Cheers
Nice to see a local & noob as well, we can be ignorant together
I'm currently sorting out my whole set up & use line lok/clam cleats on tarp ridge & guy lines.
For the ridgeline I leave the 2nd reeve & securing knot out so the line can be taken around the tree...
Howdy. I'm in the process of sorting out suspension. Now I'm going around in circles a bit but I'm beginning to lean towards the Amsteel options.
I see there are soft shackle biners which look...
Would Amsteel perform well in a munter hitch or is it to slippery?
I'm in, it's starting to rain here & I'll pay postage to Australia!
Hi all, for simplicity I'm leaning towards Python Straps or similar. They negate the need for tree huggers & are fully adjustable throughout the length of the strap.
However at $30 a pop + $45 to...
Hello all, if you havn't figured it out yet I'm in Australia in the sunny, humid, hot state of Queensland.
I jagged a hammock off ebay a week ago & spent the night in the small backyard much to my...
