Ooooh that gives me ideas. We have a lot of heavy shelving in our warehouse, but unfortunately we're always busy during the day. Ah well.
I'll tear into it tonight and get some pics together.

I tend to have everything I order delivered to my office since we have a receiving department to insure nothing gets left on my doorstep at home. Well I just received my almost-new Hennessy...
If you want some drinking water available without melting snow or gathering from a river then I'd suggest keeping a water bottle with you when you sleep. Maybe between your clothing layer(s) and...
I knew I could count on you guys to tell me I did the right thing.
I've been looking for a tarp to use with the Grand Trunk double-sized hammock I have, but haven't seen that "perfect deal" yet.
Then I noticed this in the For Sale forum and decided to go for it:...
And now it's mine. :D
Thanks for posting this, Aldz and thanks to bodhran4me for bumping this up because I missed when it was originally posted. Like most people here, I *shouldn't* be buying...
Yeah I was thrown off by that, too. I'm not sure if the REI one is just a discontinued model or what.
I'm still tempted to pick one up to experiment with. :D
They are definitely different hammocks - different weight... ah and the big difference is the cheaper one is polyester and the REI one is parachute nylon.
Nice find. I'm interested, but does anyone know what the difference between these 2 hammocks are? I mean I see the different specs, but I'm still new to all this and I'm not sure what those...
I like the looks of this and liked it on Facebook.
Should be a fun and informative book, particularly for the new hangers like me.
Don't suppose anyone knows the volume difference between a 1/4" pad and a 1/2" pad when rolled up? I'm thinking of going with the 1/2" foam for my pad just to be on the safe side, but don't want it...
Hey gang, I want to pick up some foam pad material to be my only bottom insulation, inside the hammock, and using a good down sleeping bag on top. From the sticky at the top of this forum I got this...
Thanks for that link - I just ordered 4 of those for no other reason than "just cuz".
I realize this isn't exactly what you asked for, but might be worth mentioning:
Grand Trunk Ultralight - $40
I can't tell what that tarp actually is. There is no info on specs whatsoever. It makes me leery that it's a scam.
That's what I noticed as well. I wasn't sure how well it would work out for people. I'm only 5'8" so it might be ok for someone like me, but I'm also used to a larger double hammock so it might...
I was poking around and came across this sale:
Island Bay Portable Hammock - $30
Seems like a good price for what looks pretty similar to the ENO singlenest, though this one is a little shorter...
I'm hip to the top quilt concept, but my point about my sleeping bag making a poor TQ was that it's a pretty narrow bag and since there's very little insulation on the bottom if I unzip and open it...
As suggested to me in a tarp-specific thread I think I'm going to pick this one up for the same $60: Hennesy Hex Rainfly
Hmm that does seem like a good tarp for a lot less than the next step up. The weight is really the only factor there at 23oz, but ya know the WB Superfly is 19oz and slightly smaller so really that...
Not sure if I should continue here or start a new thread of my own, but...
In my perfect world I'd have a tarp that is very portable and light for backpacking with big coverage (do to currently...
**** I really love that Superfly. It seems totally overkill for me current needs and particularly budget, but I've always been a sucker for cool gear. Not sure I can justify that one at this time!
I'm also in need of my first tarp and money is a big factor. That Gear Guide Tarp looks great, but of course it's OOS everywhere.
Ah sorry it's double as in double-sized, not double layered.
Info here: Grand Trunk Double
I've already replaced suspension :) I'm using whoopie slings run through the end channels of the...
hehehe figured everyone would see this as a good thing, not a bad one. ;)
Yeah no go on the tent tarp. It's made to be domed, as the previous poster said, and has all sorts of...
Hey gang! I need to vent and I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but bear with me as there is a point too all this I promise. Sorry in advance for the wall o' text.
Did a little solo...
Ah ha! So maybe this is what I've been experiencing. I'm still on my first hammack, a double-sized one from Grand Trunk, and it's parachute nylon. Sitting or laying in it I feel sucked down into...
Gotta love that :) If it weren't so hot right now I might try doing some work on my laptop in the hammock.
They are particularly fine looking whoopie slings, aren't they? :D
My wife and I were talking about how lucky we are as we were driving back to town yesterday afternoon. It's easy to take for granted that about an hour's drive from our house is an area people...
I had said I was going up to the mountains for the weekend and was going to take my new hammock with me. I know this may be more a trip report than a general talk post, but I mainly wanted to show a...
I really like that simple idea. That adjustable loop end of the whoopie can be a pretty large loop so it make me feel better having it held closed. I'll add that to my gear!
Kind of like the recent thread asking if there's a concussion in my future :)
I've had my hammock (my first one mind you) for all of a few days now. I've been hanging in my garage using straps...
Wow that thing is crazy and I want it now. :D I didn't even know such a thing existed - love these high-end hammocks even if I can't/shouldn't buy any of them.
Yeah still happy about the deal. I'm not a fan of the stock rope Grand Trunk used to bunch the ends - it's too heavy and too thick.
Thanks... but damnit I can't afford to be more of a gearhead. :scared:
Count me in as another very interested party to this discussion.
I just got my first hammock and I'm already mulling over my options for insulation. I have an old REI synthetic bag that was...
Can't beat that price for this double hammock.
Per Flangler's suggestion to me that worked out really well I say buy this: Simple Sling
The size I got was 18ft, 1" wide polyester with 2" loops at...
Here's a couple additional things I noticed.
Definitely too much sag. I knew that already, but it was more apparent the more time I spent in the hammock.
This hammock has extra fabric sewn...
I know the mantra around here - pics or it didn't happen, so here we go!
From my original thread here asking for some advise on what to buy for my first hammock (on the cheap) there were a lot of...
So last night I bought that REI Outlet sale item, the Grand Trunk double, for $35 and today their price has jumped way up: Grand Trunk Hammock - Double
**** good timing for me it turns out. I've...
Definitely mirrors my thoughts here. While I'm pretty sure I'll like the world of hammock camping, I'm not going to put too much money into it without knowing for certain.
The $40 (including...
Awesome. I just bought one as well through another forum member suggestion.
And it's my first hammock. :scared:
Thanks for all the replies everyone. :)
Whatever I do in the future, for now that Grand Trunk Double Hammock through REI Outlet for $35 is too good to pass up. I just placed my order. I don't...
LOL what is it with hammock people here? I don't think anyone here has *a* hammock - everyone has a ton of different ones :) If you have that WBBB I might have to take you up on the offer sometime!...
ooOOooooh that looks tempting. I had checked REI outlet early on in my research and skipped over that hammock for whatever reason, but knowing what I know now that looks like a great starter deal. ...
Hi gang! I'm new here, been lurking for a little while, first post and all that. :) Warning - wall of text approaching. You have been warned...
I'm very intrigued by the idea of hammock camping...
