Ripstop nylon would work just fine.
I made a simple drawstring pouch for my tarp pegs and it holds them no problem. I used Argon 1.6 from Dutchware (same as my Hammock).
If you want to save money... make your own! Seriously so inexpensive and easy to do.
But if you are going to purchase one, you're always better off going with a cottage vendor like Dutch or...
Fantastic stuff! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the blue Argon. I made an 11' hammock out of it too.
I have double on the head and single on the foot. Might add the second foot one, just because.

That's how I used to do it, then I just sunk a Cedar 4x4 into a ground spike and took chains to the bottom of my garage foundation. Bingo! Second tree!
When we do overnights, my 4y/o also uses one.
For OP, you could make a very simple one out of a bed sheet. A queen size top sheet is about 9' long, and ends up about 8' finished. Here's my...
I kinda did the opposite... I made my SRL UCR out of Amsteel 7/64 because I have lots and I didn't want to use up my Reflect It!
Thanks! You're a wealth of information. I love your YouTube videos. Especially the different ends for stuff sacks!
I just finished mine also in Argon 1.6 with a double knotty. No pics yet... still working out suspension options.
I can't remember if it was top or bottom... and could very well have been from going way too fast. I just ripped the stitches out and did it again.
My tension settings are perfect, and this...
Maybe it is more a function of my old machine then (1950s Sewmor). I got a lot of bunching if I didn't keep it slightly pulled out at the back.
Make the short hammock and give it to a short relative.
Micro gear hammock.
Make sure you keep a bit of tension on both ends as it goes through. Don't pull tight and certainly don't pull it through, but just enough to keep it nice and flat.
Just have to finish one more end channel and attach suspension.

Here are my two practice projects before I start BIG BLUE. My new (primarily) indoor hammock.
Fabric is Dutch's Argon 1.6 in Brilliant Blue.
First up: Mini Hammock.
Good for stuffed...
Sometimes I use them, other times not... Sometimes I can't when hanging tandem with spreader!
On the Hennessy they have shock cord so I just attach it to the tarp corners. Keeps them up and out...
Might be... but never hurts to try! Do it and report back so we can all start doing it too. :P
Looks comfy!
ONE OF US. ONE OF US.
I love DIY. Always loved sewing too. Among other things I like, I now collect sewing machines. My house has three now, one close to 100 years old. I'm not making my hammock...
So I was thinking about using amsteel leads to attach to my CLs on the hammock I am making.
I know it is slippery but the double Becket with a toggle seems to be a previously proposed solution OR...
Brilliant!

It was like this when I was repairing our son's cloth diapers, also. Everything gets sewn!
Looking forward to making my new blue hammock!

I made a small hammock to practice my rolled hems. My daughter was excited to see this when she came home!

I attach a clip with prussik, a la Hennessy. I don't use it for my tarp, but for just a utility clip.
Useful in many ways!

Cool idea!
Version 2... 14" of unburied amsteel to 15.5" of Reflect It dogbone.

But they are WAY cooler and you have a cool name for them too.
Using Zing It or Lash It will also work to make the locked brummels for the daisy chains. Using an alternate colour is always...
Man I wish canadian costcos had these quilts more readily... Need to get some...
Another vote for the spreader bar. My daughter and I hang like this, and my wife and I also tried it out last week.
I use a trekking pole.
Also for those playing the home game... I used Dutch's Reflect It. It is 1.8mm hollow core dyneema, and is spliceable. Hence the dogbone.
Most reflective line I was looking at is not spliceable.
Made one myself tonight. Basically two dogbones, the reflective one obviously shorter. Then the ends are larksheaded before weaving/burying. Thanks for the kickass idea!

This is awesome!
I have all my amsteel, plus I just ordered some Reflect It from Dutchware. Both hollow core... so I can splice the ends of the reflected bits in.
Very cool!
As previously mentioned in this thread, dot11, there is negligible friction on the soft shackles when you adjust your whoopie since it has to be unloaded to release the constrictor and make...
I know it is shorter than my Expedition Classic but I would like a second hammock just for lounging... say if my wife is in the Leaf. Is the only limiting factor for weight the suspension and tree...
Why not make a turtledog stand? They can be made in sections.
My 4x4 has not bent. But it is cedar.
I hang it this way so it can hold up on its own against the weight of the chains, which are attached to the garage foundation. Then I can attach my hammock...
Figure 8 wraps to keep the lines untangled, MSH to stakes.
Simple! Very quick when breaking camp.
Here's the pics of my setup.

I'm not obsessive, I just like simple solutions if they can be found. ;)
I'm currently experimenting with the angle of my dangle (hammocks are fun, eh!), and I will soon find something that works ...
Has anyone ever done this?
I do the finger gun thing with the ends of my thumb and forefinger on the ridgeline. Then I see if the angle of my forefinger and suspension are about the same.

I find even with my Hennessy hammocks it is possible to hang it too tight. Just the way I lay I suppose. Getting closer to 30 degrees certainly helps get a more comfortable lay, especially getting...
Loopsage,
Your setup is how I hang my hammocks, just different attachment at gathered ends (Hennessy).
Adjustable loop of whoopie goes through soft shackle, soft shackle attaches to tree...
I have the stock Hennessy Huggers (4' approx), and I pass one loop through the other to cinch against the tree, then soft shackle my whoopie's adjustable loop to the huggers. If I need to extend, I...
Yeah I've seen them on Amazon. I'll check that forum out. [emoji106] [emoji106]

Does anyone know where to get these throws in Canada? They are not on the Canadian Costco site.
