I am a fairly big guy, 6ft 2in, 250lbs. What is the weight rating on the 1.6 HyperD?
PM Sent to OP. Have to bail on this due to size.Checking the Warbonnet site, this would likely be too short for me.6ft 2in, and the site says to get the XLC if over 6". Bummed about this :(
I will take it. Does price include shipping? Just doing mental calcs on exchange rate. I have access to US shipping address.
I am interested in the hammock. What is the max weight it will support? I am currently using a HH Explorer Deluxe with Whoopies. What is the difference between whoopies and continuous loop?
Thank you. I will do my best to avoid the cages. I will be sure to check the Western thread regularly for any upcoming WA hangs.
Dang,
I saw this post and thought it would be a great way to meet some of the hammock campers in the area. Alas, I already have a commitment that weekend in Fortuna, CA with a bunch of hooligans...
I am 6ft 2in, 230lbs. I started with the Expedition. It was too small, and I felt quite cramped in it. I then upgraded to the Explorer Deluxe with side zip. Awesome. Very comfortable hammock.
Coming from North Vancouver, and having been in the local MTB scene since the early 80's (first gen member of the Secret Trail Society), and having helped build and maintain some of the sickest rides...
I experience sleep paralysis periodically. I often find it is associated with a nightmare. Awful feeling.
James,
I would love to see the pics posted. Thanks.
headchange4u came up with a cool system using a modified trucker's hitch. The thread is here http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3762. I tried it out with the stock Henessey line, and...
Bomb up, stock up and hunker down. Preferably in a cellar.
They are a neat idea, but when you go to stow the hammock, I find the hammock compressed in the snake skin unwieldly. I prefer stuffing my hammock into a bishop bag, and the tarp into it's own stuff...
75.00 for their full Mod 4.
It can, but I don't bother with snakeskins anymore. I find them a PITA. I use a bishop bag for the hammoc. I set up the hex tarp first on a single line tarp line, then hang the hammock.
I have the HH Silnylon Hex. I like it. A lot. It provides ample coverage and is lightweight. I can stow my gear, and still have room to sit in my camp chair if it rains.
Get the full zip mods from Z2Q2 and you can unzip and stow aay the bug bar when you do not need it.
The odds of it happening are so high AGAINST that the argument is basically moot. See this link from the National Weather Service (US):

I , for...
I have the Deluxe. The fabric is soooooo soft. Think like Oxford cloth. Very comfy and loads of room inside.
Oh, and for a fly, ask them to sub in the SilNylon Hex fly. It will cost a bit extra,...
Thanks guys. That vid is better than what I have at hand now, LOL.
I never go without my Thermarest pillow.
I loved this bit of editorializing:
I guess the author of the blog post is not that familiar with the modern world of camping hammocks.
Right now I am using whoopies. Think I may go back to the stockers for S**** and Giggles. Does anyone have a pic of how the line is threaded through and lashed to the hammock itself? I neglected to...
I have always found their customer support to be excellent. I'll buy from Hennessy again, that's for sure.
I like the tie outs, as they do help with the overall form of the hammock. That, and they also serve to hold up the underquilt more snug, as JRB's Mt Washington 3 has grosgrain loops positioned...
I have a Mt Washington 3 from JRB. Awesome piece of kit.
I use a seperate line. I picked up the single line from whoopieslings.com. Works like a charm.
One need not hang directly over a stream. Hang in the trees at the stream's edge, and you will find you get the same cooling effect. I even notice it on the road when riding my m/c. Passing over a...
I am about 230, 6ft 2in, and I am comfortable in the Explorer Deluxe.
Like he said. I use two of the Hennessy hex tarps. One is for sleeping under, the other for "living" if weather is foul.
Shas,
In the HH line you have a few options. They are, least expensive to most:
Explorer Deluxe
Deep Jungle XL
Safari
Don't be too shy of the single layer Explorer and Safari, as a...
I have two solutions, one for Summer, the other for Wet Coast fall and winter.
My summer solution is a 2 layer IX UQ I bought from MacEntryle. It is now being sold via Tree to Tree Trail Gear...
Will you ship to Canada?
I like to hang the ridgeline seperately from the tarp. this allows me to get the ridgeline nice and taut before attaching the tarp. Then use the s-biners to clip to the prussik loops on the CRL. The...
The Mt Washington is the bomb. Easy to attach, light, and keeps you toasty warm.
I sprung for the JRB Mt Washington 3 UQ. In a word, awesome.
People have mentioned animatedknots.com. Excellent site. For quick reference out in the bush, you should take a look at the fan book that REI sells...
This guy gave you credit in his blog. Looks to me like upnorthica has not.
Good idea. Add a digital watermark to everything. That way the upstanding folks at upnorthica would not be able to pass off your work as their own.
Wow, talk about low. Stealing someone else's work to put up on your web page is craptacular. What's worse, not only did he post it without credit to dejoha, he posted it in the BLOG section, which...
KetboardCat,
Don't give up. There are a few of us here, and some scattered down in WA. I am sure a hang could be arranged. Me, alas I am booked for most of my vacation days until fall (motorcydle...
I use the whoopiesling.com continuous ridgeline system. One end is fixed, using the Nitize Knotbone. The other is adjustable using the Nitize Mini Fig 9. There are two prussiks on the line to which I...
I have the Explorer Deluxe with the zip entry. No issues. Works great for me.
I have my Explorer Deluxe fitted with whoopie slings. These attach to a biner that is in turn threaded through the tree straps. My Silnylon Hex fly is supported by a one piece ridgeline from...
Has anyone used the Viking bamboo stand from Byer with a Hennessy Explorer Deluxe?
http://www.byerofmaine.com/products/amazonas/the-bamboo-viking-stnad.html
Yes, but it is not your property, and you WILL get biilled for the damages afterwards. If you do not pay the damages, it could wind up on your credit report, then you are pooched. not to mention, it...
Yeah, really funny. Except for the landlord, and any other apartment into which water invaded as the water main flooded the building, and the inconvenience to all the other people in the building who...
PM Sent about top quilt.
You can likely use any old glove hook. REI should have them. Then just make a prusik, and attach the hook. Voila, you are done.
