Thanks! I'll do that soon. Great service!
On about my 4th use of this tarp, I was laying in my hammock and I noticed a short line that almost appeared to be a thin spot in the CF material. I reached up and pressed on it, and it ripped into...
It got down to 61 at my house last night, so I slept in the hammock to test the Phoenix 20 and my DIY TQ made from a military poncho liner. That setup worked fine. It annoys me though, that the DIY...
I have a 2QZQ UQP and a Hammock Gear Phoenix 20 UQ. I am heading out for an 8 day backpacking trip soon, and lows are expected to be around 60. I think the Phoenix will be too much. Has anyone...
I'll take the ULA Catalyst.
Has anyone actually seen damage to a cuben fiber tarp caused by running the ridge line under the tarp?
I know it is a common theory that this could cause wear, but I really like the additional...
I had an order filled for a cuben tarp during the time you were waiting for your replacement order to be filled. I know that during this time there were multiple circumstances that caused them to be...
How long did you make your shock cord for the doors?
What type of thread should I use for polyestepolyester webbing? How about for sil nylon?
That makes me feel a lot better. Sounds like the key will be regular inspection.
Sadly, this is supposed to be a zig-zag pattern. It was an attempt to make three rows of zig-zags. The machine moves so fast that it got kind of messy, but I figured it would still serve the same...
I have a heavy duty Singer sewing machine from 1946, and it only sews straight stitches. Also, the variable speed control it pretty touchy, and it is difficult to stitch slowly. This photo is of ...
Please link to a video for the back splice. I'm having a surprisingly difficult time finding one. I will be using Zing-It.
I agree. I bought mine on sale at REI ($48) because i wanted something quick and easy to set up in a hurry for a cat nap during the work day. This seemed to fit the bill. I was not concerned with...
That's great to know. I'm glad I stocked up. Thanks for the great service again. I was going to order 4' of your tubing for gravity fed filters, but your site indicatws you only had 2'.
Dutch confirmed that these will work with the Zing-It he sells.
It is a great place. This will be my 3rd time backpacking there. I will be hiking on the AT from Troutdale to Damascus in June. I made that trek in 2010 and it was incredible.
I can hardly wait....
I only saw one size available on Dutch's site. There were no specs listed. I'll know in a couple of days, because I order them anyway.
Thanks. That makes a lot of sense.
Learn me something: why do so on the doors and not the guy lines?
I'll be backpacking through Grayson Highlands this weekend. I am so excited about this trip. This will be the first hike since the break for summer heat. Will anyone else be in the Pine Mountain...
What size range of cord will work with the line locs that Dutch sells? Will you it work with his Zing-It?
I'm considering clove hitching a short length of shock cord on my HG cuben fiber tarp Guy lines. Does this tarp need the protection of this measure?
You are right. The DN comes with nylon looking carabiners attached to the hammock ends; no suspension.
404 not found.
I read a lot of references to Ed Speer and his products, but it appears that he, Speer Hammocks, and even Tree to Tree have vanished. I hope he sold his product rights for a wad and is enjoying...
My first hammock was a Hennessy Deep Jungle XL. I like it, but have been thinking that some day I would like a lighter hammock.
Mosquitoes love me. The Hennessy has served me well, as I live...
I'm sure I'll be getting one of these at some point. My current set up works fine, so I'm in no rush. But our troop is doing an 8 day backpacking trip in the mountains next year, and I will...
Dude. I need to buy you a coffee. That's some good research and reporting (thereby enabling the lazy). I really appreciate your effort.
This is great information. I use a HH Deep Jungle XL for camping, and was considering an argon hammock from Dutch when I decide to invest in something lighter. However, I already have an Eno DN I...
How would you compare the argon hammock to an Eno Double Nest? . Weight rating, net weight, comfort, size, etc.
Thanks Storytellertn. I ask because I already have the Hennessy skins with my hammock, and I have decided to remove those since I have converted my hammock stuff sack to a black bishop bag.
Will Hennessy Snake Skins fit over the HG cuben tarp with doors?
That's what I was getting at. You can hammock inexpensively, but it is so easy to get carried away. And I don't just mean because you are covetting your neighbor's asymmetrical hammock setup.
...
Can you elaborate?
That is what I had been doing. My question was how do you roll the line to keep it from tangling. But now I wonder why I removed it from the tarp at all. Even though I will begin leaving it attached...
Perfect. Thanks.
Very nice! But that next to the last photo reminds me a little too much of Dutch's pee bag. I'll never be able to get the image out of my head of Dutch staring at me while he peed in his video.
Am I correct in thinking the only difference between Zing-It and Lash-It is the color?
Well...I feel stupid. I have no idea why I thought I needed to remove the tarp from the ridgeline. I even use snake skins, which will make it even easier.
I place my tarp over my ridgeline, but have seen others suspend it below the ridgeline. What is the advantage of suspending it below the ridgeline?
I have Dutch's lash-it tarp ridgeline with soft shackles and a wasp. For those of you with the same ridgeline, how do you roll up your line when taking down the tarp so that you don't have to fumble...
Be sure to use polyester straps and not nylon. Nylon stretches too much. Also, if you use a ground pad, it would be great to make a segmented pad extender (SPE). I saw an Eno SPE at REI for $25, but...
That's a great way to sum it up. Do what you can at first; just get out there and enjoy it.
Do you have condensation with the windshield? My Hennessy Deep Jungle XL came with a reflection pad, which I imagine is like a high-falootin' Sun shield. I had condensation on top of it if I didn't...
94370I think I found the problem (with the help of you fellers). It looks like they were threaded backwards from Hammock. Gear. It must have been a late night production or done by a new employee....
94299I hastily built this before leaving for a troop camping trip at the beach. In hind sight, I over spent on materials. Someone in this thread mentioned that the 2x2 stands were light weight, and...
I'll post photos tonight.
That sums it up for me. Since switching to a hammock: back, hip and shoulder pain...gone. Spacial restrictions of a mummy bag...gone.
I have spent...I mean invested...a lot of money on down...
I can't seem to get the line locs on my Phoenix to lock. It's almost as if they are designed for larger lines. . Do any of you have this problem?
