Welcome from California!
Castle rock state park. A few miles hike in and usually pretty quiet. I've hung there before but can't remember which site.
I'm in - very generous! Thanks!
I had a question about IX being out of stock - emailed Scott and heard back in the same day (this week). DIYGearSupply for the win!!!!
Where are people buying IX?? All the sources I saw online are sold out (DIY GearSupply and TTTGear were all out).
Thanks!

Well I got my birthday present early this year and it's a... Sewing machine!! I've got all the material I need for this project but realized I don't know what stitch to use. My wife thought zig-zag...
Welcome welcome! Posting from the south bay here (hopefully soon to be in the east bay) only an hour or two from you. I'm also super keen for some more CA hangouts. I was bummed I missed the nor-cal...
Really awesome looking tarp - nice job!!
General consensus I have read on this site is "not necessary" so I don't use em for tarps
What a salesman. haha - alright I'll take it. PM inbound.
I'm not familiar with the Speer tarp - how does the coverage compare to the MacCat?
Arg! I don't suppose you have a second MacCat that price :D Good score heywoodja
How's the material on the MacCat? The same as the Mamajamba? I thought that some people didn't like the waterproofing on spnn and was curious as to how it would hold up. You wrote that the Mamajamba...
I ordered some shirts last week because they look baller and I didn't want to look frumpy at the airport (taking a 14 hour flight to Sydney and getting picked up by inlaws). Right - so I've ordered...
Looks like a good tarp- I'm sad to say I'm going to pass. Enjoy it lymphocytosis!
Pm incoming
I didn't see any pics of the grizz beak in your gallery. Noob here and curious to see what the setup looks like. Also are you including any hardware?
Asking questions here is the right place to start! I will say, that I found making whoopie slings REALLY fun. My wife laughs at me, but it's something I find relaxing and productive. But then you...
Well then I guess the question is - which colors to choose
Anyone have any experience with their clothing line? I need some new clothes and am curious as the quality. Thanks!
I worked at a company where everyone used a 3 letter identifier based on their initials. Since they didn't know my middle name, they just took the initials from my first and last name (a+k) and added...
Original question was posted last summer...
Man - I was thinking about getting a sewing machine, but now I'm thinking about getting one with a footpedal... :D What a beautiful machine you got there
Welcome from the West Coast!
Super cool! Now where is that old water bottle holder I knew I should hang on to...
akx added - where are all the other CA hangers!?
Edit - For some reason I can't see all HF hangers at once - only a page at a time (using left-hand nav pane). Anyone know how to fix this?
I'm in the same boat. I did send mine back for a couple reasons. They're not what I wanted (at all- size, material, quality). And even though it's a good deal, I don't want to keep 2 tarps that I'll...
Do you have the weight for it?
That's a good tip!
Finally got mine yesterday. Pulled em out of the box to confirm size. Ordered the "12x" and it was definitely 8.5' x8.5'. Didn't even bother pulling out the second one. I bought a Hennesy expedition...
Here's the current thread discussing it: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=49005
My understanding is that what is being sold as a 16'x16' is actually an 11.5' x 11.5' so that may...
I've been asking similar questions and the most common response is "2 people in 1 hammock is not comfortable". I'm actually trying to decrease the ridge in a ENO double deluxe w/ a structural...
I'm with Shug - that looks really good. You're tempting me to go out and buy a sewing machine...
Arg! I just bought the Expedition...
For that price I'll take it :boggle:
Don't have a sewing machine...
Gotta love the lack of consensus :) Keep the comments coming- I love reading everyone thoughts/experiences.
So I received an REI gift certificate and am in the market for a tarp. I've been drooling over some of the tarps I've seen on the forum, but I don't think I can swing the funds right now.
I'm...
First "mod" I ever did was order some whoopie hooks from Dutch and amsteel online, and made my own whoopies. I've never spliced rope before and found it really easy (and fun!) to make my own.
What waist size does "large" correspond to? 34"?
I've been trying to figure out a good tarp option. Yours looks to be cheap (yes!). I was just curious on others' opinions on weight - is 2.9oz crazy heavy for a tarp? overall weight for this 10'x12'...
Such cool ideas/experiments!
A great analogy I once heard to describe radiation/emissivity:
Both a wood stove and a clothes iron are hot to the touch, but the wood stove radiates heat, whereas...
Welcome from the South Bay. I just spent last weekend making my first whoopies. Really simple to do (although I think I made some mistakes  ). You can also buy them. As for tree huggers I...
In the guitar community they call that GAS - guitar acquisition syndrome. Is there a word for it in the HF community?
I'm very jealous!!
Are you using this on overnights? I'm not sure I could fit all the crap I carry into a 24L pack
Thanks Papa Smurf - these measurements are super helpful! dum dee dum dum... Just waiting for my hooks and amsteel to arrive.... :)
I figured 1/8" was the way to go. I like the idea of longer buries!
And the whoopie hooks will snap onto 1/8" amsteel?
I think I'm a little ways away from having my setup complete, but would be down for something. If your in SF Castle Rock SP is nice and local. 1-2 mile hike in and lots of TREES :)
Didn't realize there were so many people from CA. I live in the Bay area between San Jose and San Francisco. Nice to meet you all!
So I just ordered some Whoopie Hooks  and can't wait to set them up on my single hammock. BUT - I'm wondering if I can use them with an ENO Double Deluxe with 2 people sleeping in it (under...
