    It's heavy, the fit is terrible, etc. Do a quick Google search on the reviews for it. I checked it out in rei as well and it sucks every bit as much as the reviews said it would.

    I just like to keep my base weight 15lbs or less. My days of humping around the 100lb Alice pack is a thing of the past. It's just more enjoyable for me with a lighter load.

    Usually on the hammock suspension or on a small piece of tyvek or similar material on the ground and covered with a pack cover.

    That's way overkill and you want the rope to break before the tarp shreds.

    And to the op, I think you are meaning to ask about a ridgeline. Guy lines are the ones that hold the perimeter(corners)...

    Very simple, ditch the stretchy eno junk, get non stretch straps and attach via a toggle, buckles or rings.
