I'm sorry, Tee... you were specific about compression only, and I forgot all about that. I should have left Dave's comment where I found it! I also posted before I completed my thought, said it...

No. I have used it to lift heavy things with a crane, though.
No, I don't.
Not sure why you are asking... your point appears to be that it can't be holding anything like the entire load, with...
...so, now does anyone still believe that the true MSH, which is what we are talking about, puts no load on the toggle?
I do not see how it is possible for the toggle to have no load.
EDIT: I understand why it's considered to put no load on the toggle... when the contact is rope to webbing.
But I don't believe it is true!

+1 for oil.

Are you certain of that?
When there is no load on the suspension, does your Amsteel MSH remain tight, and resist coming apart?
Just curious...

How about a 3/32 hole for a keeper string? Tie it to your Whoopie sling with a loose stitch using heavy thread...

Paul, perhaps you could use 3/4" and narrow it in the middle. That will have the perceived effect of keeping the rope on the toggle, if you know what I mean.

I'd make them of purpleheart, and change them out after they turn grey.
I still have some short pieces of aluminum arrows from which I have cut MMP stays. PM me if you want a couple of 2 to 3 inch pieces.
