I haven't been on the forum for quite a while, but just got a couple reminders about this hang from Pappy and Tall Paul. I've missed several hangs now due to scheduled hunting and fishing trips and...
I'm gonna miss this hang this year. I'll be with my brother in the Great White North fishing for Walleyes. If there's anything I like as much as BBQ it's fresh fried Walleyes. YUM!
I will miss this one again. Heading to Syracuse NY to celebrate my 90 year old Uncles's birthday.
Number one is easy. Number TWO is a real problem.:scared:
Yes I hope to see you at Yates next spring. I've never been able to tie a diamond stopper knot. I was just joking about the respective weights.
I love watching the Phantom Grappler do his magic with knots. Now my first question is "How much lighter is a single diamond stopper knot than a double diamond?:shades:
Sadly I am going to have to cancel due to a friend passing last night.
I'm in. May come on Thursday.
Ya, I have relatives coming to visit that week. Depending on how long they stay I might be able to attend on Saturday night. Is there room there to set up my turtledog stand?
It turns out that I may not be able to attend this hang so I removed my name from the spreadsheet. I also am giving up my spot at Loki's site. If things change and I can come, I will bring my...
Paul, I liked how you started the video in a hammock so you could make the trip report legitimate on the forum.
Wow Paul, another fine video from you. Hope to see your new family member at our next group hang.
That sounds like a great plan. I should be able to join you. If there are at least two of us, we won't have to pay for a shuttle between Carver Gap and Roan MT. town.
Don't you remember the old jokes?.......After you hear KNOCK, KNOCK, you're supposed to say "Who's there"
I attached one of the little glow in the dark linelocks to my zipper pull. There are other things made to add light, but I just used a left over linelock I had.
Good point from Stubby about having our personal info in an online data base. Don't we all carry drivers licenses with real names and addresses?
Grayjay or Homerun retrieved my chair and pad and sent it to me. Thank You.
Thanks for setting this up Miyanc, and for changing the date to avoid conflicts with the other group hangs.
Can't help you, but I know what you mean about how nice it feels. Several years ago I bought a bamboo shirt from Duluth Trading Company and it's always been my favorite shirt. I've tried over the...
And now at the other side of our state we have shark attacks. Here in the Piedmont it's ticks we worry about.
This is the weekend that the Uhwarrie Fall Back hang usually happens.
For those of you who missed it, here's Phantom Grappler tying the Fairamont Friction Hitch.

I have the old Grill Dome fired up with a load of Wicked Good Charcoal and two butts. The Pit Runner is holding a steady temp of 205* and the pork is smelling wonderful. Should be done by 6:00...
I would really love to get together with you guys, but I'm leaving for Italy on Friday and gonna be real busy this week.
Nice video Firebird. Looks like there were bugs at the lower elevations. What is the new pack, and what happened to your Arc Blast. I need to get off my butt and get back on the trail.
DITTO, I hope you bring it. Looks like a very interesting design.
We have had several group hang at Yates Place in Uhwarrie, but it is primitive camping. This is all national forest. There may be some improved campgrounds over by Badin Lake.
I will be smoking two butts about 8 pounds each. Not sure how much the final product will weigh.
Ummm, False advertizing Shug ole buddy. I expected to see you playing a fiddle in your hammock. :lol:But a great video as always.
Thanks for the pics Gunner. I finally got to show my wife Hotlips and Kingfords kitchen.
Glad you're coming GH. Don't worry about the stove, TP will bring it Saturday.
TallPaul was going to bring my coleman stove to me but he's not coming. If he doesn't get it to Miyanc to bring I will be stove less. Can somebody let me share a burner on their stove?
I was just going to cook sausage links for anybody to go with whatever they were having. If you want to use some for the wraps that will be fine. I don't think Hotlips is doing breakfast Sunday.
That's correct. I'm bringing the cheese, tomatoes and broth. Also sausage for Sunday breakfast.
It's like sleeping on a cloud.
Looks like you're making a Suspensionless Suspension. Maybe you can adapt it to Dutch's Hammockless Hammock.

I agree with Silverpalm. I like low key and simple just the way we started out with this time change hang, back when. Spend more time in the woods just one group meal. Don't know why all the hangs...
When I lived in Raleigh I spent tons of time hiking all over Umstead Park. I stealth camped there a couple times far from the airport side. But one time I camped at the actual campground and the...
On mine, 26 inches.
AWWW Shucks, It won't be the same without you the founder of this annual hang. Maybe we can borrow your smoker rig and cook a few butts, and you can come by to taste test.

PM sent. I'm really looking forward to this years hang.
I sold my cuben with doors and upgraded to the Winter Palace for both those reasons. Plus the wider tarp keeps the rain splash farther away from my hammock.
I really wish I could get to this one, but Mrs. Bonepile has plans for our 33rd anniversary this weekend. Maybe next year you could change the date for this hang. Or maybe my anniversary will be...
I never completely remove the bug net from my XLC because then the shelf is gone.
Hey Paul, good video as always. Too bad about Natalies migraine. I've been wondering when you were going to treat us to another one of your trip reports. Thanks and Happy New Year.
Welcome to the forum from an ex-upstate New Yorker. I grew up in a small town near Saratoga. Spent a lot of time in the Adirondacks. I hope you make it to the Yates Uhwarrie in the spring and we...
Thanks for the very nice Christmas card Tim. Merry Christmas.
Did that big tree fall before you camped there or while you were there?
Welcome aboard from Pilot Mountain. Might we be neighbors?
