Just to be clear- the hammock is brand new in its sack but I have used the tarp once and no longer have its sack or the 4 pieces of tie down cord. Otherwise it's in fine shape

I am selling my unused Claytor Jungle Hammock (camo) on Ebay with a tarp I used a couple of times. Wife not interested :( although I have another one of my own and it is a fantastic hammock. You will...
Currently I have a jungle hammock with carabiner rigging with a large synthetic underquilt and a large down quilt. I am 6"4" so smaller stuff won't cut it.
My issue is that when I pack this stuff...
Just spent last night in my new hammock. I think I have found happiness :)
You are a prince, thank you
I am looking to buy a few feet of spectra AirCore Plus cord for a ring buckle set up. I have been looking on the forum and elsewhere and all I can find is a 50ft roll of it which costs over $30 . Are...
Nope and he sent me a spare hammock for free :)
Tom got me the hammocks in about 3 days! Amazing service
I am going camping to a state campground in a couple of weeks- do the authorities usually hassle hammockers?
So last night I cancelled my Claytor order, having not heard from Tom for a couple of days. Having dealt with him before I knew he must be on a trip but I was getting a little desperate with my...
Well I paid for my new hammock on Saturday but have yet to receive any email from Tom- and I have a trip in 3 weeks.
Not sure if he's on a trip but I may have to cancel my order if I don't hear...
I thought using the elastic cord on the netting would help - but I guess not.
Only in the USA buddy :)
By the way I tied off the netting with elastic cord and attached it to a tree(found in tent poles) so there was a lot of give in it. I really think that the problem was...
Well it did slip out of its buckle because I forgot the half hitch which was my fault.
Also the bug net was secured to the tree so there was a lot of tension involved.
It would be easy for me...
I sent them the money for a new one already- maybe if they sent a spare that would be great :)
yup I know it makes no sense.

I will post pics but unless you can think of a way to fix a 6 foot rip I don't think it is fixable. I think it was a bad seam under a lot of pressure.
I already sent a paypal to Claytor for a new one because I figured it was my fault for not tying the half hitch.
I am 215lb so I am no lightweight.
Basically I got in the hammock and it started...
Just got in for my claytor jh for the night. I didnt secure the ring buckle with a halfhitch and the hammock slid to the ground basically ripping itself in two. Completely busted.
I am very...
You are right to be concerned. Check out the advforum for some really good info on motorcycle camping. I am a bad person to ask because often is the night I am riding around in the dark furtively...
I am trying to think of the best way to pack up my quilt, my uq and my hammock so that I can carry them on my motorbike. The bag needs to waterproof and sturdy. My uq is synthetic and my
Quilt is...
I just trade my ORM with a wider version the katahdin. So we will see how that goes. i also realized that my custom kaq uq has several tabs that can be closed together to make the hammock more of a...
Just noticed my kaq has 3 pairs of loops along each side allowing me to clip the sides together creating a kind of peapod cocoon. Very nice touch for those colder nights.
I am just going to ups myself right now. I will pm you tracking #
Its funny because I was going to actually buy a katahdin with the proceeds of the ORM- so basically thanks for the offer and I accept. I will pm you.
I have a JacksRBetter Old Rag Mountain Quilt in Tall Size. I only used it once in my garden. Unfortunately I am such a big guy(6'4" 230lb) that even though it is the Tall model it was still too...
I have a kaq custom made for my claytor. It is her warm and was about $150. Mine is overstuffed and the only downside is packed size is a little big. But I prefer that to being cold.
So basically my ORM is good for between 45 and 55 degrees. Any lower and it lets in the cold and any hotter and its too hot :(
The problem is that the slightest movement in the hammock let's in cold air- it just isn't big enough for me. Maybe I can sew some Velcro to the hammock and attach the quilt to it
I think the problem is I am 6"4 and 215lb. I have the tall orm but I think its still too small and lets in the cold air when I have bulky clothes on. I wonder if JRB can somehow expand the quilt or...
I have an orm quilt and I am having a problem with it as a top quilt. First let me say it is a quality piece of gear. When I use it at 50 degrees I wear boxer shorts and tshirt and get too hot. But...
I took it down to 36 degrees last night outside with a little wind blowing. The kaq worked fine. Not so the old rag mountain top quilt which didn't work very well. I think it may be because I was...
Just a quick word on the custom Claytor Kaq made for me. I used it last night with my claytor and an old rag mountain top quilt. Temperature was 53 degrees all night. I slept great but got too hot...
Its funny I went out last night in my hammock and got pretty cold. I readjusted the Kaq and it got much warmer. I see what you mean now about the gaps on the side. I am thinking about contacting John...
I have just bought a kaq and have used it on my Claytor and it fits fine. I was nice and toasty down to around 40 degrees in a tshirt. You are adjusting the kaq incorrectly imho. You need to put it...
I finally got my kaq yesterday. The post office somehow lost my package but eventually they located it.
First of John has been excellent to deal with. He really is a good guy and you can be very...
without the kaq underquilt and just a speer pad I went down to 20-25 degrees but I was pretty cold and slept only 5 hours
I am close to getting my whole setup all together. It consists of a Claytor Jungle Hammock, a JRB Old Rag Quilt, a KAQ underquilt and a Claytor extra large tarp. My idea is to stuff the hammock, and...
John is making my UQ as I type- I will give it a review when I get it and try it out.
Here is the link btw http://www.kickassquilts.com/
I dont think its a big secret or anything
I travel by motorbike so hopefully it wont be too much of an issue. I like the idea of 1) saving $100 and 2) using synthetics for an exterior quilt
but if its too big for my pack I will have to...
Well I guess I am too impatient to wait for an answer and I just ordered one. I decided to give it a shot after reading the warranty page. It seemed so chilled out. :)

Simple, I...
What size can you pack the KAQ to. I was set on the snugfit- how does the kaq compare?
I have a claytor Jungle hammock and at old rag mountain quilt as well as a 3/8 inch closed cell pad. I was out in what I would say was 25 degree weather a couple of nights ago and although I slept a...
I put the hammock outside for the first time. Everything was good but then a giant storm hit with massive windblown rain. After a couple of hours the bottom right side of the hammock was soaked. The...
Well as rash as I am I bought everything I need to get my project done. So I guess I will find out the hard way. I will report on what happens.
The advantage to the whole thing is that apart from...
by the way I carry everything on my motorcycle so the weight penalty doesn't worry me. I just want to make sure I am not doing something that won't work before I order.
Cheers
Neo
My question was do you think my idea would work ie using webbing instead of cord threaded through the existing channel and attached with a carabiner to the 2 rings?
I am new to hammocks but I just decided to incorporate a ring buckle suspension on my Claytor Jungle Hammock. I am a little weary about attaching a cord to the end of my hammock using a larkshead.
