That was supposed to be "What to do with your backpack"
When using a hammock stand, use the pole to hang your pack. 2 eight inch continuous loops and 2 toggles keep your pack out of the way and dry.9291792918
What I normally do is make a tri-pod from 3 sticks and some cord. Then I hang my pack from that and my boots go on top of 2 of the sticks above the lashing. This keeps everything off the ground.

Thanks for the encouraging words my fellow hangers! The wait is the hardest thing now.
Just ordered both from HG, got 20 degree borrow and incubator. Other than the IX under quilt that I made for summer time, I’ve always went with a pad. I hope I will grow to like them both. I know...

Because I go hiking and camping a lot by myself, I've not had anyone really see all the stupid or funny things that I do. Therefore...no trail name. :(
You did great. Thanks for the vids, and for showing how you pack your pack. Most only show what they carry, not how and why. Again, good job!
Welcome REN, and thank you for sharing the great idea. I also had heated clothing for my cycle and it was great. I think you should give it a valiant try anyway. Could be the heat wave of the future...
I made mine for my Claytor JH and it fits perfect on the WBBB. I will be going to the woods Sun-Wed and will give a full report thursday. Made the UQ 7' long and 60" wide with gathered ends.
Duct tape three 3' rods across your chest, hips, and shins. You can fix ANYTHING with duct tape...
Thanks, and the rip stop is great. I'll try to up date on Thursday with pics.
Yeah I know...but if I need to cut it down, at least I'll have something to cut. :D I think that the temp is going to be in the upper 50's so it might be more than enough.
Did you attach it at...
Basically by the seat of my pants. Took a 7' piece of IX and did a roll seam on both sides. On the ends, I also did a roll seam but made it big enough to have a small tube to run some shock cord...
And here is a pic of the TQ covered. My son (that just got out of the Navy) is doing the demo. He thinks he looks like he's 12...
OK it's 10:38
Both the UQ the TQ in the nude, next to the tread injector for those in doubt ;). One shot of the gathered end.
Them there are fightin words partner!!!! ;) Actually, having to spend too much time at work, like right now. When I get off tonight at 10:30 I'll try to get some shots and post them. I'm going to try...
I do the same thing. Sometimes I'll ball up a jacket or something and put it under my leg cause my garmit bag is being used as my pillow.
Coming from a woodworking backround, I have no clue of what you speak...
Not my own design, but just like canoebies. Although mine is naked still, just waiting for my rip-stop to arrive.
After trying it on my Clatytor JH, I set up the WBBB to see what adjustments would...
I really need to get a set of those. Even with pulling the the ends together, my butt still hits the bottom bar with my WBBB.:(
Just ordered 20 yards of olive, hope you have it in stock. Thanks for the great deal.:)
You guys baffle me  I have a hard time getting my summer pack down to 25 lbs without food and water. Winter is about 50 lbs!
Did you use the whole 60 in width, and how long did you make it? I also have a Claytor and I'm pulling out the thread injector tomorrow!
Now that"s funny! hahahaha
A boat, a goat, and a moat...I think your on to something, think I'll look into it!
As Earl of "MY Name Is Earl" says: Ya give good out, ya get good back! It's just blessing back on your good heart Shug.
An ultra light 80 lbs for the tent, but the floor comes in around 30 and the fly about 35. Just right for 2 day hike don't you think?
Thanks headchange4u, what did I do wrong?

This should do it. Sorry about the bad quality.
Well I tried to upload from youtube and I guess I did something wrong.

Just set up an old tent we used to use when we Rendezvous (1780-1820 renactments). It's 12X14 with 5" side walls and 9' ridge. Not going to try to lay in the hammock, the 2x2 uprights...
Thanks for all the replies guys! I think that I will go with 6' straps. I do have extra amsteel in the pack, sp I guess there won't be a problem.
After switching to whoopie slings, how short did you go on the straps? I know it sounds silly, but I don't want to be caught short. I've been sitting here with scissors for far too long. Every time I...
For $60 you can get the large tarp from claytor. I also did the pole mod, and it works great! I can even close both ends and still have plenty of room.
[QUOTE=bigbamaguy;246144]All I can say is that may be the best first post that I have seen yet. Excellent stand and KISS application.QUOTE]
I have to agree! Pictures, completed project...way to...
The only complaint that I can remember when I was looking for my first hammock was they were a little on the short side. That is why I went with a Claytor Jungle Hammock.
Thanks for sharing your adventure with us! Makes me wish I was out in the woods right now, but I'm stuck at work:(
Nice job. Just spent $73 on a stand that I am going to have to modify. Don't know why I didn't think of it! Is there any flex in the polls that you are using?
I use the 3 X 4 m (10'x13') Claytor large fly all the time. Some say it's way to big, but I have found that it gives me many different set up options. I have set it up as a diamond fly by folding the...
Where are you getting the extentions? And I'm not sure what you guys mean with pulling them together, wouldn't that make the angle of the hammock straps too flat? Or are you saying to take a rope and...
Just set up my stand from AGRI and hooked the BB to it. I had it as tight as I could get it and my butt hit the ground! The stand is long enough, but just not tall enough. I'll have to get some...
Black Bird just showed up! Also the hammock stand I ordered. Tomorrow will be a play day for sure! The BB looks fantastic Brandon, thanks so much fo a fine product! :D
Well I don't know if mine is coming or not. If the notification came it went to my work e-mail and Tuesday - Wednesdays are my days off and I can't get my work e-mails at home. I'm just going to...
Way to go leroybrown! Great job!
Good job LB. I guess this is for your DIY gathered end hammock. Will the ends gather so the wind doesn't sneak in?
I didn't...man I want that thing bad! The stand that I ordered hasn't shown up either.
I stopped looking at in days, I only ordered mine 9 pages ago. See...now that doesn't sound so bad now does it?
Why add extra? Couldn't you just roll over the edge and sew? I think that is what I'm going to try.
Thanks for all the nice comments guys. As far as Mitchie going camping, I was referring to him carrying his own backpack. Right now he walks like a drunken sailor:lol:
Know what you mean! I was hoping to get a e-mail today...no luck:(
