I am very happy with the color, and after this semester is over I hope to have some time to make the top quilt it is intended for.

One word KNOTS. Well and what pgibson said too. That stuff would most likely cut you if pull on it, I personally know 30lb braid cuts fingers really well.
I have the material in hand to make a pair of down TQ's for my wife and I. I have read the threads, and consulted the spreadsheet calculator, and am just looking for any last minute helpful hints or...
I made the whoopie slings, but follow the link to West Marine to buy the line. 5/64" is like using Dynaglide, but it comes in grey.
Two 6' 1inch poly tree huggers from these Harbor Freight straps, Two 6'+ 5/64" Whoopie Slings, and two random aluminum tube toggles comes in at 93 grams.
Great looking quilt. I really like the gusset detail at the transition of the footbox.
Amazing job on the quilt and the instructions. Do you lose any overall length with the footbox cinched vs. it open like a blanket?
I ordered 100' of this New England Ropes 5/64". It is similar to DynaGlide and used I 25' to make a pair of 6'ish whoopie slings. On my kitchen scale they weigh in at 18 grams, while 25' of 7/64...
dudeman_atl - The stuff sack fits the tarp and ridgeline very well. Yes Sir, THWG! I have a certain allergy to red and black.
tinysailboat - The tieouts are 7/8" grossgrain ribbon folded in half over the edge of the tarp, and I folded the tip of the tarp back and stitched it down. It is same bright green color as the...
Just finished my diy asym tarp. 1.1 silnylon 2nds, a little heavy silicone spot on one end but I followed the guide on their website and that end got cut off anyway, from DIY Gear Supply tarp link ....
I'm all about modifying things to my liking "stock sucks" I get it, but taking the effort to modify a ready made hammock and bug net to get the length you want means (I assume) you have the tools and...
I'm 5'6" 140lbs I have a 9'6"ish hammock without a structural ridgeline that I keep in my car to throw up wherever and whenever I can. I have a 10' 1.9oz ripstop from Hancock Fabrics that has a...
I have some of this in the 5/64ths http://www.westmarine.com/buy/new-england-ropes--hts-75-dyneema-single-braid-line--P012357679. It is rated to 1,000lbs. I'm only 140lbs, but would I trust it for...
My wife and i have a crinkle taffeta "Tablecloth" hammock, us and our friends have put at least 350 pounds in it on multiple occasions with no signs stress.
Rip Stop By The Roll has some new Noseeum coming soon. Just follow the link. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/107816-Noseeum-is-getting-lighter
I had good luck with RIT dye. I used one bottle of navy liquid, a five gallon bucket, a couple gallons almost boiling water, and about three hours of stirring. Random thrift store woodland camo...
I just finished a 10'6" HyperD1.0 gathered end hammock and plan to install an integrated bugnet as soon as I dial in my ridgeline length. I plan to follow Xtrekker's guide on youtube...
I just finished a 10'6" Hyper D 1.0. With two 6' 5/65" whoopies and 99"-108" ASR made with http://www.westmarine.com/buy/new-england-ropes--hts-75-dyneema-single-braid-line--P012357679, and 6' tree...
Oh yeah forget the one I started the thread with. This HTS 75 5/64" is way better with the West Marine sale going on. I just ordered 100'.
Thanks for the heads up u.willie!
FSE ROBLINE MRX-2 Dyneema Lashing Line 2mm 880lbs break strength....
RSBTR has un-calendered Hyper D to use for hammocks. I got some for Hanukkah in royal blue and it feels much softer to the touch than my old 1.9oz. I am 5'7" and 140lbs and have a 10' gathered end...
My wife and I hang together in a 90"x156" gathered end from http://www.tableclothsfactory.com/category-s/149.htm. Granted we only read, nap, and just hang around in it together we would never dream...
My wife and I have one for lounging in the yard and car camping. It is great! We have it hung with Harbor Freight tiedown straps and ring buckles on whipped ends. It is so big and there are so...
I bought some of this http://www.amazon.com/Woodstock-130-Pounds-Planer-Line-Orange/dp/B003XKFFB8 and it is great stuff, the only thing for me is that it is too small for the small figure9s I use for...
LNT and other practices of conservation have to start somewhere. Think globally, act locally as they say.
The five of the best years of my life were spent in the 'Boro. I met my wife there our freshman year, and proposed to her on Sweetheart Circle 7 years later.
My wife and I love our 90" wide tablecloth hammock for naps in the yard. Not even in the realm of UL, but it sure is mighty comfy.
My wife and I have 7/64th amsteel whoopies on our individual hammocks and we have ring buckles and webbing on our tablecloth hammock. I like both suspension systems equally.
I have a roll of http://www.amazon.com/Woodstock-130-Pounds-Planer-Line-Orange/dp/B003XKFFB8/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1377637434&sr=1-1-spell&keywords=Woodstock+planerboard and I...
Wow! Simple and uncomplicated. A tarp project looks within my ablilty without the flat felled seam and POG's grossgrain and rolledhem guides.
My wife and I have a 90x156 sage green crinkle tablecloth hammock for hanging in the yard and I washed in with some towels on a regular warm wash with our regular detergent, and dried it on high with...
Genius! I was thinking that my rolled hem foot needed more of a run up to keep the fabric heading in the right direction. Totally doing this when we finish the berries in the fridge.
Scrounge local construction sites for tyvek, or a blue poly tarp are the cheapest. My tyvek 9'x9' hung as a diamond is great coverage, and IRC tyvek house wrap is around 1.25oz sq/yrd. The Kelty...
I followed Knotty's instructions http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=15205 and I bought 4 yards of ripstop nylon from Hancock Fabrics. * Buy some Amsteel to make whoopie slings from...
Webbing and ring buckles for my tablecloth hammock, whoopies and MSH to webbing on the other. I like both, ring buckles are easier for friends to understand and use, and whoopies pack smaller and...
The wife and I did just what you are talking about last summer in our tablecloth hammock with no problems at all. I've now changed to ring buckles as a slippery half hitch is easier to explain to...
Check out the Shangri-La Tarp from Arrowhead Equipment.
http://www.arrowhead-equipment.com/tarps.html
Probably not exactly what you are looking for, but it is an asymmetric hex tarp.
DIY hopefully should provide something that buying gear doesn't. PRIDE. Just like a good hard days work you can look back and admire your work. DIY'ing even if it costs the same or more as buying...
Mason's line is great for non-load bearing applications only. Max load of under 50lbs.
The Cabela's xpg tarp looks like a better option it is lighter and has a higher rated coating coating.
Cabela's 1500mm
Kelty 450mm
The Cabela's is measured on the diagonal where as the Kelty is...
Check yard sales and thrift stores. I picked up a vintage SnowLion (high end brand from the 70's)down sleeping bag weighing 4lbs for $4. Even in the shell, baffles, and zippers weight 3lbs that price...
hahaha:lol:
Haven't used it as toothpaste yet, but it washes everything else very well. The liquid is easy to put into smaller bottles, so you only carry what you need for any given trip.
Awesome! Glad you like it, occasionally I have a good one.
Dr. Bonners in the best soap, eco friendly, a million uses, and doesn't dry skin. Just a dab will do ya, the large bottle will last forever. It get peppermint and feel the tingle.
A 15'x15' hang hut/workshop sounds great. A large movable workbench and some sturdy shelves would finish it out very nicely.
Thought about using some dwr spray on the ends near the suspension. Just like the 1/4s of the hammock closest to the suspension for some extra insurance when using a small diamond tarp. Depending on...
Being silnylon it will be a vapor barrier and it will create an environment conducive to condensation issues. You will have to learn how to manage it, search the forums and Google. Good luck.
