+1.............
I have and love the Exped 650 for its warmth and versatility...
However, echoing some of the other comments, I fear use:
- around the fire
- sitting on irregular/dirty surfaces
- using the...
Ok, then I must be in good company ;>
Many thanks!
Did you make yours or get them somewhere...?
I'd rather find a source as I'm in my busy season...
I know it has 3 attachment points, but I'm thinking to:
1. Have the forward skin over one of the attachment lines
2. Make that line the first to tie to the tree (along with the back line also...
Thanks, everyone for joining along. As my diving season slows down from now, I'll have more time to hang and look forward to it ;>
Great idea...they need to make one of these for the BMW 1200GSA...I'll have to contact them and see what they think.
Motorcycling, diving, hanging...what could be better ;>
At one of my favorite dive spots, I have long intended to use a beachside pavilion (which is not used at night) for a protected hang.
...
Looks really good!
Thanks for the post...definitely an attractive idea!
What would be your approach if you had to pack up wet and redeploy later in the day at a new location?
Congratulations! You have made a great contribution to what is without a doubt, the best online community of the many I visit...
Many thanks ;>
They look great!
Shame that knot isn't on my iPhone program...
Ok, I temporarily abandoned double bipod stand 1.0 for a different design/material...stand 2.0.
I'll get back to 1.1 later, but 2.0 is made from thin wall 32mm stainless tubing with dowel...
Thanks, I'll give that a try...
Many thanks for all the ideas...I like the idea o using some kind of rubber...I have some tennis grip on hand, can't hurt to try ;>
I was thinking the same...but at a loss so far.
The top of the poles (not sure of the material) has some rounded spikes intended to be inserted through a tarp grommet.
I'm somewhat worried...
Making a bipod system for camping w/o trees, but the lashing is slipping down the pipe once loaded...any ideas?
I'd rather not drill through the pipe as it's borderline thin as it is now...
...
I got a message that your PM box is full...
What kind of snake skins are you using?
There's a post containing the video in "the turtle dog stand" thread, post #181
Also found on YouTube as the "stand-alone double-bipod hammock support".
Someone has already done it...I can't find the post anymore, but he has some YouTube vids up for demo and how to build.
Taking a page from a bipod stand I saw here for motorcycle use, I'm looking to build a taller unit so i can rid a tarp over it (at a decent height).
I have a camp or two coming up on a beach that...
Wow...I didn't know, I'll have to PM you and see what my options are...
Does Smokehouse make these up for folks now and then?
This is a cool setup...do you have a link to the original thread?
+1 on UQ...
We have two ENO double nests for a handful of years...Ive never felt the seams...
Or perhaps pulling some cuben through a tube of some sort and then gluing the two ends of the cuben to the tarp...
Howdy from up here in the mainland!
Congratulations...enjoy the journey as much as the destination...but I know you always do...;)
Dang...I can't get any of the higher percentage Perm content products to ship overseas...it must be import limited to the weak stuff...
Darker colors are more efficient absorbers and radiators...I'd think that would mean you feel more heat as the other poster said...
many thanks for all the suggestions...
I've never built a geodesic dome...
OG, I like your idea...I wonder how far spaced I'd need bunk to be (top to bottom) to make this work...
It will probably never happen...but there is a possibility...each year, we pursue a few leads...
For the last handful of years, I've been incubating a plan to build a scuba "base" on my favorite...
Good grief...this has to be the longest running thread I've ever started...with no serious answer to boot.
Brandon got in touch with me BTW...
I need an ASAP availability question that can't wait for the email/time lag...
Cheers
Jim
Kreecher...nice rig! I like the collapsing legs...
SR - This is great stuff. May I ask...for the tarp you made, what would the approximate cost of the Cuben have been...?
On tie outs...it would be great if a no-sew solution could be had here. What...
Agreed...a SF-sized cuben tarp would be of interest to me as well...
Looks interesting...and that has to be one of the worst press photos (top photo) I've ever seen for any product...
I think materials like that only glow for a few minutes when they've been "charged up" by a light source...no?
I was thinking about this for my DIY units, but thought that in the dead of night,...
Very professional-looking work!
Ah, OK...my lack of processing capacity is showing...;)
Does this Zpack unit (original poster) have the new reflective material?
Agreed.......
Where is your friend in Japan?
I see...traveling from abroad (only one vehicle) I've wondered how we might do that someday...
How do you deal with your vehicle when you do a river trip?
Now that's funny!
