Well... if anyone experiments, please let me know what you find out. Still wavering here since our current method is working fine.

Husby and I have been happily hanging with Exped UL7 downmats thrown into our hammocks for a couple seasons now in the central WA Cascades. He's got a Marmot Never Winter 30°, I've got a Marmot...
Glad to see you got it sorted! :thumbup1: I noticed with my GT UL that it's VERY small, and as such sleeping bags/pads tended to 'ooze' pretty badly out of the hammock itself. I haven't had this...
FWIW I found my BA air pad somewhat difficult to wrangle between the layers of my hammock. This was 'cured' by just throwing the pad into the hammock where I could more easily rearrange if necessary....
As Papa Smurf brings up, these are NOT crammed hard into the sack. They could each probably smash down half their length if you really wanted to.
Hope this helps.......
I do OK with XC skiing over the winter to keep us occupied, but once the season starts... yeah... It lets DigitalJanitor ride dirt or It gets the hose again.
HA! No kidding. We've been in...
Didn't hang on that trip, although we had all the hammock gear loaded as a test run. We'll hopefully be hanging this weekend up in the trees now that the weather is starting to cooperate.
Winner winner! :D I've got an Ibis Mojo, husby's got an Anthem X. No room for a frame bag on mine but whatever, I LOVE that bike.
We're just getting started so not a whole lot of experience yet beyond some daytime test runs and a couple overnights, and honestly our climate allows us to avoid rain for the most part. But my...
Heck, last year we had a week off in September and I had 6 different places to camp/bikepack across 2 states to choose from as we got down to the wire.... and we ended up having to dredge up option...
I'm seeing a heck of a lot of variation here, and honestly I'm thinking some of it related to location.
We once got caught in a storm at 6,000'+ feet elevation, which this far north is where the...
Oh heck yeah. I use the NOAA graphical forecasts and only plan anything overnight tentatively until a day or two out, when the predictions become more accurate. At that point we make the final choice...
We finally got the Edge we ordered on 3/4 today. I guess the good part is that we already had all the shock cords, ridgeline/dutchware, MountainGoat sleeve, etc. ready to rock n' roll. Weather is...
We just got a HH Scout for our 7.5 yo Buglet. Heavier fabric, mesh, & zipper = more weight/volume than our other hammocks, but honestly given the abuse kids dish out that's probably just the ticket....
I have a separate 'dirty bag' for straps & stakes. The pine trees out here like to cover everything w/ pitch.
One word of caution: if you're camping out west in pine country, with all the beetles et al you can pretty much count on every tree leaking sap somewhere. Murphy's law dictates you'll hang your pack...
Ordered a camo Edge 3/4, just got shipping notice email. :thumbup1:
We just got a set for my Superfly and his Edge. Super easy, fast turnaround, wonderful product.
If we can't go Warbonnet, we'll go DuPont... husby's Edge isn't here yet so last night we used a sheet of Tyvek I'd gotten off Ebay and rigged up w/ tape loops this winter. "The miracles of science"...
FWIW we went out there yesterday to do our first camping trip of the season, mostly because it looked to have the warmest overnight temperatures in the region of anywhere that we knew for sure had...
That looks positively fabulous. Anxiously awaiting warmer weather so our bicycle dirtbaggery can begin here up north....
We'll be 3 weeks out on an 'in-stock' camo Edge tarp, but looking at these posts I guess we're not exceptionally behind, so I'll sit tight.
GOOD KARMA for those offering Siphor a 'cut in line'....
For the record: if you think just laying in a GTUL feels cramped, try loading it with a BA insulated air paid + Marmot Helium bag... better than sleeping on the ground, but the whole rig wants to...
Dangerbird eats a worm... or a kid... or a kid disguised as a worm... :)

Another gear-shakedown-day of setting up our stuff,...
Our daughter is 7 and while we haven't overnighted with her in the hammock yet, we're now ready to do so (well... once husby's Edge tarp gets here anyway). She's already crawled into it every chance...
Yup, that's ours. Soon to be joined by an Edge tarp. :)
Husby tried it between the layers and thought it was more hassle. I've only used my BA pad 'top loaded' into the bottom of the hammock and haven't had any issues with it. The trick IMO is to get the...
FWIW I use the BA insulated air core and found that I *did not* like it partially deflated, as it seemed to bottom out under my butt which lead to CBS. Couple weeks ago used it fully inflated on my...
If it were me, I'd bring a stakeout line to put my hounds on under the hammock so they don't go tearing off into the night after a deer, elk, bear, cougar, cat, etc.
But I have GSPs, which are...
Yeah, I hadn't noticed that either, but here ya go:

There's LOTS of critters in this country that can wander in and rumble. Coyotes, bobcats, cougars, bears... and yeah, now wolves....
In talking with Canadians and Alaskans, they don't typically...
OK, that confirms my worst fears... I'm fine with camping in the Teanaway wolf pack territory, just NO poison oak for me!
FWIW I slept Sunday night on the back porch with the SOL thermal bivy I've ripped apart/re-taped as a blanket/emergency ground pad spread out between the layers of my WBBB 1.1 DL, BA insulated pad...
Huh... wonder if it's the wolf pack from our 'hood coming down south now. They do roam quite a bit.
We go through Satus periodically on trips to Van. and I love the look of those oak woods, but...
FWIW I slept Sunday night on the back porch with the SOL thermal bivy I've ripped apart/re-taped as a blanket/emergency ground pad spread out between the layers, BA insulated pad fully inflated +...
On the fabric repair tape for the hammock: I was thinking instead of sewing a pad pocket, I'd run a ~12" piece of the tape down the hammock with an equally long strip of fabric attached, then attach...
I know a guy who did it with an exped downmat 7 and LOVES it. Personally I'd be afraid of going after that thin fabric with a needle, but have mulled over putting a ~8" piece of fabric repair tape...
Payment sent
I'll take it....
Hahahaha, awesome...
One time in a SUPER low flow season/year I floated most of the section from the T-way to the pullout by the house (the irrigation intake right below the sandstone cliffs) in...
Dude, you floated right by mah 'hood, lol!
Did you dump it in that big standing wave serious below the Thorp bridge near the sandstone cliffs on the left side? Those are the biggest I remember in...
Just so you know: if you get something from Randy at Dream Hammocks, his price will include full whoopie string suspension and tree straps. He even throws in some arrow shaft toggles. Keep that in...
Just got my brown SuperFly yesterday, and it is a good match for that digital camo too since the pattern has quite a bit of tan. We hauled everything over to a local CG to set the tarp up and do some...
Oh, and HUGE MORE THANKS to upgrading us to the 10' tree straps... by Washington standards this would probably be described rather blandly as "a good sized tree". The "really big trees" are actually...
It came in the mail today, so of course it's gone up on the porch for an experimental run tonight... that lump is husby in a Marmot Never Winter bag on a Downmat UL 7. With a few extra layers of...
Thanks again for everyone who put up with me, husby, and Buglet trolling through all the setups Saturday afternoon. Husby's digital camo top/bottom DangerBird just arrived today and is deployed on...
Weight difference may be negligible, but what about packed volume? Everything we're picking up will hopefully be put to use for bikepacking, where the various bags have space limitations. We're...
Ordered a SuperFly on Jan 30th and haven't heard anything yet. Like others I don't want to bug Brandon especially if he's digging out from the flu, but since others have heard from him with orders...
Might want to ask on nwhikers.net.
Just got back from our 'hang drive-by'... which came later in the day than initially planned after we discovered our hot water tank had died last night . Husby and my dad both worked REALLY hard...
