Yes, it was a good overnighter.
Hope to see you in camp again soon.
I'd love to but I'll have to be working.
It'll be good to see you again Hiknhanger.
Man, I'm sorry to hear that.
What a painful setback.
Prayers for you and those around you.
Many thanks Slugger!
PG, if you'll bring that 20 x 30' tarp, we'll get it hung. I have some rope that I'll bring as well. And a rock sack that will help to get the rope over the limbs we want....
I'll be glad to help with big tarp deployment, and Hickery and others as well, I'm sure.
Son of Blue has traditionally been reserved for the Grayson Fall and winter hangs but maybe we can come up...
Yes, I've watched some of his videos.
He does a good job.
I received a grab bag with some small sections of Dyneema, some one sided PET tape and the colored tapes in the pictures.
I'm not at all familiar with the colored tapes but it appears to be Dyneema...
Glad y'all had a good time!
"trading weight for increased comfort"
That's a big one.
Thanks
I don't remember all the details but I'm thinking some of the new ultralight tents using a trekking pole might be hard to match with a hammock setup, but it's not a huge difference.
And a lot of...
Thank you.
To a lot of folks, it's all about Return on Investment and You Tube Algorithms.
I appreciate facts above dollars and sometimes people need to be held accountable.
If I were going to cater away,...
I have two job interviews, Wednesday and Thursday.
If they don't put me to work this weekend, I might just join you.
I added my same onion list in the comments below his video.
So far, he hasn't nuked it ;~)
I have absolutely nothing against tents but when someone with such a large following, spreads lies...
Yes, and some hammocks come with side pockets or add ons for storage at the head or foot end.
And there are gear slings and more.
Video 8.5 minutes.
My opinions...
He starts out saying that one of the biggest, most popular reasons people use a hammock is mobility issues and back pain.
While this is a reason for some, I...
Thank you Dave, WV.
Though I live in NC, Grayson is my favorite State Park.
I think you'd enjoy it Rockdawg.
Hickery has already purchased a money order for the raffle proceeds going to Friends of GHSP.
Also here are his recites for the Port a John rental.
We like to keep everything up front and on the...
Awesome video WolfPackOne!
Real men of genius:cool:
I have the same issues staying warm during the day, especially my feet.
I guess I could invest in some better clothing and footwear, but it...
Yes, thank you Marci.
That's going to be a long three weeks for Shug! :scared:
This Sunday morning, Hickery says,
About 10 left. All slowly packing up.
-1 was the low. About15 now. Wind was hard last night.

Hard to crawl out of that warm comfort!
Hickery also said they had the raffle at noon today, 10 degrees.
They raised $780, minus $230 (for the port-A-John I believe), leaving $550 for GHSP!
Not bad for such a small group!
Grayson did...
Hickery sent me this group picture this afternoon )Saturday) but I'm not sure if that's everyone that showed.
I know two headed back home early, Bonsaihiker and Farmer Ron.
And as far as I know,...
I hope no one lost a tarp through the night.
A few more from Hickery

Yeah, I was thinking as I posted, that's probably not a very cozy corner, but it sounds good on paper.
Glad you got out there for a while and I'm glad you are playing it smart to avoid a worse...
They made themselves a cozy little corner.
From Hickery.
He asked about today's updates on this planning thread.
Said it's really snowing!

From Hickey this morning.
He said; 16 degrees and snowing!
Batten down the hatches with that sustained wind and wind gusts!
No fun to get up and re-stake the tarp, especially in that cold and wind.
You know this already but try to use as many fixed tie...
Hard for me to say, but I would think so.
I have used a 20-degree top and bottom in single digits and been warm, but I have always used an insulated air mat in the hammock too.
A pad of some kind...
Thank you very much for the thorough information Marci.
Have fun and be safe y'all.
All right!
To those of you who know your stuff and are well prepared, have a great weekend!!!
Looking forward to hearing about it!
Good feed back.
I had wondered if I would need the long Kam Snaps for the side that had the webbing, and the standard for the side with a tri fold of Dyneema.
For those staying away from this one or on the fence, please let us know so Hickery will have a better idea of who's coming.
Thanks y'all.
Yeah, I think the snaps are the way to go.
Besides, I'm not crazy about the sound of velcro being pulled apart.
Snaps it is.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
I have one DIY dry bag that I didn't quite tall as I should have for the stuff I want to keep in it, so it takes extra care to keep the 1/2" webbing stiffener lined up with the 1/2" hem...
I ordered from Rip Stop.
They have been out every time I checked for a while now but now, I have what I need.
Thanks man!
I've been making a few ultralight dry bags lately.
I recently saw where someone mentioned roll down dry bags with velcro tabs that held the stiffener side and the other side together while rolling...
Thanks Scott.
I've done searches and found tapes like these but unless it states that it bonds to Dyneema, I'm pretty sure it won't.
Here's the route I always take from just south of Winston Salem.
Only part I'm not sure how well will be maintained if there is any accumulation on the roads at that elevation is Hwy 93, from...
Thank you very much Marci.
Have fun but take the cold extremes serious.
Be aware of the signs of hypothermia and frostbite.
Not trying to scare anyone away from a challenge, just want everyone to be smart about these temps...
