Too much light to sleep by and I could never get comfortable in a car. I do however enjoy the shower rooms. Motels are out of the question most the time, as I feel I'm being hustled for money.

I was kind of skeptical about getting the doublenest just for myself, but I have heard that others prefer roomier as well for pads, bags, and other gear.

Well, got the ENO Doublenest in the mail today and was really impressed! I didn't have any production hangers so I used some milspec static line and an old cargo strap I had in the truckbox.

I was thinking of the blue tarps because with the thick hem, it wouldn't require a sewing machine. This gear needs to be made without specialized equipment.

Interesting. Another way would be a lodgepole internal frame in a canvas wall tent.

The only way I think it could be pulled off is....

1- at least 1 foot square steel plates under the poles to avoid sinking.
2- MUCH beefier poles.
3- MUCH beefier rope.
4- Auger style dog...

It's a lot of gear to haul (hence the trailer), but for long term stays, I would take it over an RV any day. It's about a two hour setup, and three hour breakdown.

Mine was Ft. Sill, Benning, Gordon, and Bragg, with a couple of years at Camp Williams with the 19th.

Can't wait to rig a SW dipole atop the hammock, lay there and surf the world!

The tent (12x20 Alaknak) and kitchen was from Cabelas, and the bed and crib was from IKEA. Maybe a little nuts to some, striking out in the dead of winter, but it was better than the home we were...
