Hammock is sold to Tom. Thank you.
Hi, this is the Heavyweight Double Layer Blackbird in brown. It's not the XLC. It has the standard construction including the bugnet, shelf, and footbox.
...
In November I bought a Heavyweight Blackbird Double Layer. This is the hammock that will hold up to 400 lbs. I slept in it two nights on a Boy Scout campout in December. It comes with continuous...
What a great idea!
My friend has the Hammock Gear and I have the Zeppelin, both the 20 degree full-length versions. To me, the Zeppelin seems to loft more which would make it warmer. We both camped out this weekend...
I would definitely be in for a couple of straps. I tried multiple times to teach my young Scout how to use tree straps and Whoopie slings with no success... but he can hang his Eno and slap straps...
If you're going to camp in cold temps (40 or lower) then I'd get it. I'd be afraid I'd always regret not getting it if I didn't. I have a ridgerunner and I use the coccoon anytime it's 40 or below...
I've got a pair that I used two nights on a Warbonnet Ridgerunner and they worked very well. I'm 250 lbs. I would be curious to see how you had it set up.
Silnylon will stretch overnight when it gets damp. Without the shock cord your guy lines would become loose as the silnylon stretches. Then as the wind whips your loose(er) tarp it can pull the...
This weekend I hung my buddy's Dutch Argon hammock up next to my homemade taffeta (tablecloth) hammock. From the inside, the lay of the Argon hammock felt very similar to the taffeta and didn't...
My opinion is that you should go with shorter straps and longer Amsteel. If the strap doesn't go all the way around the tree, it's no big deal... some of the wrap will be Amsteel. As long as there...
I just ordered a pair of these for my Ridgerunner. I never even got a chance to use my Speed hooks I bought last month, lol.
Yes I agree. I told my friend to store them unstuffed. Hopefully they'll never be stuffed longer than 16-20 hours on the trail.
I had a Western Mountaineering down bag that would puff up...
I wanted to post again and say after letting the Burrow and Incubator quilts lay out uncompressed for 3 days that they have lofted up more than they did on day 1. I am not as concerned about the...
I just want to say how nice Paul is. I was having trouble with something last night on the website and he both took my phone call at 10PM on Thanksgiving and answered an email. I'm looking forward...
My friend just got an HG Burrow which he was nice enough to let me borrow for a few days to examine. It is a 20 degree Wide, Regular length Burrow with the .67 oz weight fabric, and 1 oz overstuff. ...
That's the type of info I'm looking for... Is the heavier fabric of such higher quality that it makes it worth the weight penalty?
Further studying seems to indicate the rip-stop used by HG is .67 oz. per square yard and the rip-stop used by UGQ is .9 oz. per square yard. That would account for the difference in weight.
I'm going to buy an underquilt to use with a Warbonnet Blackbird gathered end hammock. My wife who is 140 lbs and 5'5" will be the primary user. I will use this when backpacking solo and I am 5'10"...
I apologize if this has been debated previously. I am looking to get a new Top Quilt (and underquilt) and I'm trying to decide between the Hammock Gear Burrow 20 or the Underground Quilt Flight...
Is this just for the Underquilts? On the UGQ website, you can choose your Underquilt fill type from a drop down menu. When you are choosing a Top Quilt, there is already a distinction between 700...
Yes, thank you. I'm just trying to get a feel for the difference between charcoal and titanium, and how dark/light the brown is.
I'm getting ready to place an order. My buddy just got 2 Incubators and a Burrow and he felt the colors were different from what he thought he was ordering.
Can someone please post a pic of...
Quilt sold to Canteen Boy
It's a 3-season quilt. The JRB site doesn't list the temp rating, but the fill weight is consistent with other 30 degree bags. The lowest temp I used it as a top quilt was 32 degrees, and the time...
The quilt weighs 26.1 oz. Stuff sack weighs 1.3 oz.

My two sons and I are all three going to Philmont next summer so I'm selling some of the gear I've been hoarding the last two years.
Up for sale is a Jacks R Better Sierra Sniveller Down Quilt,...
Next in line if sale falls through
My apologies, I was thinking this was a different sleeping bag. Looking for the Phantom (down).
This bag would be great for a Boy Scout or anyone looking for a great synthetic sleeping bag at...
I talked a buddy of mine into buying a pair of these and then I talked him into letting me use them on our Scout campout this past weekend. I weigh 250 lbs. and I used these with a Ridgerunner...
I took my Boy Scout troop on the Cross Timbers Trail this past weekend. I took my GPS to create a digital trail and I have transferred that to a USGS topo map. I believe this to be the most...
I've been using this SRS system on my Ridgerunner hammock and haven't had any problems with it. I've used it at least 6 nights. Anybody reporting that it's failed?
Brandon (and others):
When you say you don't recommend a tarp ridgeline, why is that? I've been using a continuous ridgeline over the top of my Cloudburst since I got it. Will doing that somehow...
Are you guys all getting the pole at the headend the length of all 3 aluminum pieces? I prefer only using the 2 longer poles at the head end and leaving out the short piece all together.
Sorry I missed this one. :(
I think I'm going to try and put these ends on the poles like you have on tent poles
http://questoutfitters.com/pictures%20patterns/endtip%203058.jpg
Then I'm going to put the matching grommet...
I'll take 2 of the finished poles
Any pricing information on this yet?
I am guessing this thread will conclude on April 1st with the OP posting, "APRIL FOOLS!!!"
;-)
I'm in Granbury. So jealous of your Thru-hike
Greetings from Granbury, just 36 miles SW of you
I have one of these in XL and it fits pretty close to size... larger than an XL Patagonia Nano Puff that I have.
I can attest that I wore my Hadron on the recent Hang in TX that got to below...
If it were anything other than a scheduled Boy Scout Troop campout I could do it... unfortunately I'm the Scoutmaster and I have to be there. We're prepping for Camporee and my troop's going to win...
I could do it the weekend before or after, but not the 22-24 :(
Did you sew the two colored fabrics together before making the catenary curve cuts?
Ask your wife if she NEEDS more than 4 pairs of shoes.
I'm guessing it's like a bead in that it keeps the main loop from burying into the bury.
I'll subscribe to this thread because I would like to do it to. I'm also following the thread on the $20 hiking poles that are adapted to use as the spreader bars for the Ridgerunner. I carry...
How long are the poles?
Check out this page at Questoutfitters.com http://questoutfitters.com/tent_poles.htm#TENT POLES for tent pole sections. I'd guess you'll want the .340 diameter poles. ...
+1 for a SOLD folder.
