I don't think there is a number that you could come up with for all situations. A good length for your backyard seems to be about 78". That will be way too long in most situations in the real world...

I would just order it from Ed Speers. He lives in NC and has just what you need. OWF is way out in Idaho and they usually ship UPS which comes by wagon train...lol.
