Thanks man! That price is a real bummer though. It'll have to be a while before I pull the trigger.
I finally talked my wife into doing some Hammock camping. 'Talked' may not really be a good word for what I did. All my talking was to no avail. Setting up the hammock and letting her settle in to it...
You mean a standard military poncho liner or one of the Kifaru woobies?
E.A.Y.
I'll have to consider that. I've not got any DIY skills or equipment ATM, but I am seriously considering asking dad to dig up mom's old sewing machine, so who knows.
God bless,
Adam
Gunner,
I got the Thingies designed for a full sized quilt. But that would be the first place to start.
E.A.Y.
I might look into some kinda quilt-to-hammock tab arrangement. You are reading...
That's how I tried setting it up initially. However, even with max tension on the Thingies the quilt was a sagmaster. Maybe it's because of the quilt is a long?
Edit: Almost forgot, Thank you!
I was having a nasty time taking care of CBS with my long New River. The problem has been keeping the quilt from sagging away from my butt. So I ordered up some triangle thingies and set them up...
I use one of these guys from Kifaru.

EDIT: It even comes with a man to hold them!
I just recently got a Snoring Cub in M50 from AHE, its a sweet little thing. I also have a Kifaru Woobie Express which, when folded into its pocket makes a great reading pillow.
God bless,
Adam
Enjoyed the review, but I'm left with a pang of sorrow and a burning question. Is that the lower trail to laurel falls I spy behind you? I hiked those paths more than a few times in the 3 years I...
Warbonnetguy,
Thanks for the heads up on those things. I'll keep an eye while I do my experimentation. Maybe a bit of shock cord on a bottom pullout will be necessary for "EXTREME SOCKING!"...
I appreciate much the responses. In reply:
1) Yes a tarp would help, but not tarping up in fair weather is one of the things I love about the sock. Guess I am getting a little greedy. :D
2) I...
Paracord, its good cheap cordage but:
1) It stretches
2) It soaks up water
I'd never use it for ridges or tie-outs because of its stretch. Have in the past, regretted it every time.
I'll still...
Disclaimer: I'm a newb.
Recently got into hammocking, and shortly got myself a Traveler Sock. Before I get to the trouble, let me throw out that this a sweet piece of kit, easily one of my...
Man... lotta love for the SF. I might be buckling. Shug, thank you for the info.
Thanks and God bless,
Adam
I'm looking to get a hex tarp for my hammock. It's up between the Mamajamba and the Superfly. I REALLY like the idea of being able to close the doors up on the SF. However I am trying to cut down my...
I got my traveler sock in a few days ago and had a chance to try it. I enjoyed 2 and a half solid hours at 28* with a 30* UQ and a 40* TQ. The reason for the short period of time was two-fold, 1)...
Country,
Thanks for the inputs. I'm a little tall, and I think that does have a bit to do with it. What hardware do you use to hang full time? I'm considering busting out the stud-finder and a few...
Update,
I appreciate the advice, I've not tried another overnighter (for a couple reasons) but have done a couple hour hangs in the afternoon. I've eased up the tension and gotten a better lay....
Bubba,
Thank you! I'll experiment with those tips and let ya'll know when I do!
First, I'm new to hammocking.
I finally got a chance to hang in my Traveler last night. It wasn't exactly a good nights sleep for several reasons.
1) There was a notable ridge toward the foot...
Gents,
Thanks for the point to Papa Smurf's site, that's a huge help guys.
PS: Is the standard width (54") good for an Asym lay?
God bless,
Adam
Gents,
Thanks, I understand what ya'll are saying. Which gets back to the question about which hammock to get. Because I'm not sure whether or not I can get a sock for the WL Owl-Lite. So, is...
Howdy all, New Guy here...
I'm looking to purchase my first camping hammock. I need set up with a 3 season (maybe even something that could go 3 in time) hammock.
I've seen the socks that...
