Exactly, awesome stuff. Now if I can just find it by the yard...
That's pretty much where I'm at now. I'm well setup wtih my UQ and TQ and Hammock, they will get me through 3 seasons easy. I have one small tarp with a larger one on the way, and I'm going to start...
I thought of that as well (was looking through a couple threads were people had done it). But as always, I need to make things hard on myself.
I have an idea in my head, and if I can get some...
I want to see me hanging in the snow too!
I have plans to make a peapod type thing (I believe is the correct term) to wrap everything I'm currently using and help me get down to single...
Mini-update, then I'll probably let this thread die as I'm sure it's boring you all by now. :D
I attempted to sleep in the hammock Tuesday night. I just couldn't get comfortable. Probably too...
Thanks guys.
I got some more time in last night. I got a JRB Nest from Just Jeff. I hung the Nest in the dark after looking up how Jeff hung it on his site, and got it right in one try. I hopped...
I forgot to add, I'm planning a cool weather camping trip (Car carping) with some friends mid October. I should be fully setup and dialed in by then. Even though they are car camping, I'm going to...
SUCCESS!!

I'm not sure this camera phone photo shows the setup well, but here it is.

That about sums it up right there.
I've got 10 yards of nice olive brown Sylnylon, 12 yards of (heavy) digital camo, and several more yards of Walmart ripstop waiting to go under the needle.
Better, much better.
Here's the details.
It appears I have no choice but to hang the straps high. If I hang them at head height or as high as I can reach (with the only "pair" of trees in my...
Update: its 4am, almost made it through the night, but nature called. Posting from my phone before falling back asleep. Will add details in the morning.
P.S it sucks being allergic to mosquito...
Especially 55lbs of muscley (I guess that's not really a word) Pit Bull.
That sounds awesome!
That's a really good point Doc. I know on my initial setup of the hammock (it was dark) I was off center, and I hated it. The second time I set it up I tried for a more even hang. I'll double check...
I started with the straps at head height and worked up from there.
I hope I find the sweet spot soon too!
I've seen others do that...it's a pretty slick idea, but I'm working on talking my finace into letting me plant a 6"X6" post in the yard at that magic 15' distance. The only problem with the back...
Thanks Rev, I got that. I was responding to the ladder and putting the straps up higher comment. I can't imagine going higher would help, but yes, I'm going to try and get the foot end even higher...
I'm already 12' up. I can't imagine going up much higher would help. I'm sure someone's got a charge that would prove or disprove that.
This is a great tip, and I had already figured this out on my own. I kept pulling myself up towards the head side, which relieves some of the pressure on my knees. This was a huge improvement, but I...
Ah yeah, she did spot a squirrel and used my gut as a springboard to leap from the hammock and go chasing. That was a little unpleasant, and left the hammock swinging back and forth for a few...
I'm still awfully uncomfortable in my Blackbird. I just can't sleep on my back, and sleeping on my side tweaks my knees and my neck a little bit. I still think my problem is the only two trees in my...
