Well dang! That's a great idea...
Most Hammocks I've seen at one spot. The enchanted forest kept sprouting dozens of tarps!
Has anyone signed up for the hot dog buns? I didn't see it on the sheet. I've got bag o cheese but can help with the buns
You too FIMB!
Actually her name is Judy. I'm not sure if I'll bring her. As a Husky she doesn't adapt well to this heat. But she sure gets sad when she sees my pack and doesn't get to go!
Yep that was a fun 17 miles
All right:lol: I put in for Friday 17th off so I'll be there Thursday night! Whoo Hooo so looking forward to this!
Now that just made me laugh CB! One of my favorite movies ever
Be good to see you DM!
It will be great to see ya'll! Last time I saw Hickery was when you guys set up that giant tipi.
Looking forward to the Rock! This is definitely on the must do calendar every year.
Absolutely loved this video as I couldn't get out hiking this labor day. I have been to Sterling twice now and after seeing this I think I'll go soon again! Thanks!
Excellent trip reports and videos. Really made my day to see these. Wish I could have been there.
Yep. Judy will be there...
I am all in! Looking forward to seeing old friends. Its been a long while.
Thanks Swampfox.
Yes, we started where the Foothills Trail crosses SC130 at the first gravel parking lot on SC130 north of the Duke Power Bad Creek gated access. The Upper Whitewater Falls visitor...
Thanks MM. Fine video...The opening music really tied in to the scene of the Elk. Almost as if he was acting the part for you. I have been up to Sterling twice now and ran across the elk as well....
Thanks Rain Man, Imagine your picture of the upper pool with about twice the water flow, there was a lot more water coming down on this hike.

I just received my SOL Escape bivy from REI and will use it for the first time this weekend on a hike in the Pisgah Shining Rock area. I will report my findings. Good thing about REI is if I don't...
Thanks everyone for the great comments. I think that the trip report forum is my favorite on the forums. Reading folks trip reports is like being there and writing them helps to keep the memory alive!
I just went out back and saw nine in about an hour. A couple of them really crossed the whole sky and left trails. Very nice. Thanks for the tip.
Glad your okay GrannyPat. Best way to get over the scare....Jump back in....well done!
Man what beautiful weather you had! I was there a couple of years ago but never even got to see the mountain as it was so socked in. I understand from some folks out there that the clear days are few...
Sploosh! Buddy! Glad everyone is okay...
Enjoyed the pics, especially the one from above the clouds. I've been up in that area and have seen the Elk too. Thanks for the report.
The best trips are the ones with the kids or the grand kids. Looks like your grandson is getting a good start on enjoying the outdoors. I notice that the mountains up there look a lot like the ones...
Thanks for giving me some history on this ballbuster of a trail. There is no doubt that those 3 or 4 miles coming out of Naked Ground fit the name. I'll pass your comments on to Chef and Mark.
Wow, what a beautiful spot. Taking your son and teaching him and giving him these wonderful memories....well done!
This was supposed to be a 19 mile loop hike. Well, plans change.... Hope you enjoy the trip report:

Enjoyed the video! Notice the "perfect trees", as if they had been planted just for a hang! RF and HB found the spot. Wish I could have been there...
Oh yeah I'm in! My pup Judy and I had a fine time last year. I might be able to get my wife to attend as well. Her first time in a hammock maybe...
Thanks for the report and pics. This brought back memories of a hike I did on that section.
Whew...what a rough one. Thanks for the trip report and passing on the lessons learned. Florida definitely has a different set of rules for hiking.
I know it CB! You were missed.
Thanks everyone, I appreciate the good comments. I'll try to take pictures the next time.
Hope you enjoy this trip report. HB said I should post it.

To answere question 1. You probably need to hang the foot end slightly higher than the head end...by about 3 or 4 inches. This keeps you from sliding down into the foot area. It seems counter...
Thanks for the video....Wish I could have been there. Pesky little thing called work got in the way :(. It would have been easy to find your camp...just look for the glow in the sky :shades:
Friend of mine had a similar solution for a ongoing problem with a gang of raccoons raiding his cabin property. One night he shot the biggest one, tied it on the back of his ATV and drug its carcass...
Really cool artistic video :) Something about the way you mixed the video and pics and music put me in a good place. Thanks
Hey another Georgia hanger here. I have the Clark NA too...Welcome!
Thanks for the review. I'm 6'3" so this big ol' hammock has really caught my eye...I'm still not sure how the draw cords can create the foot box? Can't seem to picture it...does the draw...
Thanks for the video Ken. Good to see that part of the Gorge.
That looks like a big ol' back pack your son is a carrying! You can't beat hiking and camping with your son. These are memories he will have for a lifetime! Nice side by side tarp set up too...
I have used a Clark North American as my dedicated winter hammock for several years now. I know the weather shield adds at least 10 degrees warmth. One thing that I have noticed is that if I leave...
It looks like I have to bow out. Something has come up out of the blue....Hope you can make though Str1dr.
I have owned the North American for about 4 years. This is my go to hammock in the winter. The extra weight of the NA in the winter doesn't matter as I would be adding some sort of storm shield to a...
I can't get Friday off so I will probably be getting in to camp after dark sometime. Looking forward to meeting you all. I guess I'm the only one from the Georgia side of the Chatooga representing.
